I'm looking into maybe loading up one of the peer to peer software packages. But the most popular, kazaa, contains unwanted spyware.

I'd be interested in knowing what people are using, and if possible, can you also provide a link to the program?

I am dead set against loading up anything with spyware/adware but I would like to hear from people using the stuff anyways. :D

Kazaa Lite supposedly has no spyware, at least according to some friends of mine. I won't run P2P at all.

I use Winmx when i need music, also covers videos and pictures.

As far as i'm aware of there are no spyware attached to it...

easy enough to get rid of the spyware - just run a cleanup program through your system.

kazaa-lite was scanned when i downloaded it, and came up clean.
winmx is ok too, but because of the number of users, can sometimes take a long time to move up the queues....

Kazaa lite is supposed to be spyware free and there are enough tweaks for it about I guess.

I use winmx for tunes and emule(client for edonkey p2p) for everything else. Bit torrent (use the experimental client for it with the bandwidth controllers) is also very good for new stuff but you have to rely on websites and tracker servers which go down a lot. Its great for getting new tv shows fast though.

My favorite by far is edonkey (www.edonkey2000.com) and its partner program overnet, they work very well and have a huge number of available files, most of the servers for edonkey are in europe and so contain a lot of foreign language items, but I have had very good results with it, do be careful during hte install it does have some spyware optional components but just don't install them and you will be fine.

Winmx is quite good. No spyware here. It is a very basic, no frills program. True P2P, no advertising or pop-ups.

If you are worried about spyware you can download Lavasoft's Ad-Aware program for free. It works quite well. A link is below
