What need does Lit meet for you?

There are so many sensitive people here and so many deep and profound threads

It provides me with the opportunity to not only exercise my skills as a writer, but to lecture ad infinatum to a willing audience. Additionally, I can not only hone my craft in full reclusiveness, I can indulge my need to be gregarious.

For me, it's a place to socialize. Sometimes to seek a bit of advice if I feel the need. More often a place to flirt and just cut loose. With 2 kids of my own and 2 more that I care for while their mother works, I don't often have adult conversations. I get my time with Draco every morning, but sometimes throughout my day, I get tense and frustrated with the way the day goes. I pop on here and there during my day, read a few threads, make a few smart-ass remarks and pop back off. I can then get back into the "mommy mode" as I call it, and not be ready to strangle the little ones who I love the most.

Did I mention that I like to flirt, too? :D

one of my main reasons for coming here and maybe for staying too was to express my sexuallity which i do some in real life but i dont have any friends that i talk too about my relationship with lisa as much as what i do on here

so there is the reason that i bore all you lot with talking about lisa so much :p

also i've made a few close friends on here that i wouldnt want to lose contact with if it could be helped so thats my other main reason for staying

and fun :)

What does lit do for me?

It's a link to the outside world. there are people to talk to, things to read....
Before i came to lit I talked at other places. That's what lit does for me.

It's an addictive diversion. I enjoy the stories, the witty debates, and often blatent sarcasm. I hate soaps but there are times when the drama here intrigues me. In an otherwise conservative society, it's nice to come here and be able to chat if I want to, flirt, learn and explore... What? This is a porn site?!

Porn Site!! No wonder my candy shell is hard all the time!!!

;)

Its the intellectual capacity and those deep and profound threads. Don't Put Bengay on your Balls is my favorite.

Good question

Personally I am a newbie here I like the fact that nothing is a taboo subject here. You have complete anominity so you can talk about anything freely.

Not to mention there are some really damn funny threads in here!

Rick, you need to slow down. You're starting to repeat yourself. Within an hour, no less.

I come here because I enjoy reading. The majority of my friends and acquaintances are in law school, and Lit is a break from my little legal world. I can listen to different opinions and topics from people from all walks of life from all over the world.

Hmm... so a need to be mentally stimulated? I can identify with that.

And a need to be sexually stimulated? I can identify with that, too!

I also love the intelligent conversation. Debates turn me on. Wisdom makes me hot. High I.Q. scores cause spontaneous combustion.

All of the above. I came to lit thinking i would post a couple stories and move on. Obviously, it didn't work out that way. I think it helps fulfill my need for intelligent conversation, and flirtation that I just don't get on a regular basis in real life.

I can help with this one. Never and lavender are without computer access for a few more days. Lavy used one of mine yesterday to post a bit, but Never was at work and couldn't come over.

I have a question about the "name dropping" comment. Dixon is in Hollywood and sees people that are at least well known to many of us, and uses these names as a point of reference in his posts. When I've posted a story that involved a celeb I've met, I've used their name to give people a more complete picture of what I was talking about, but no one has ever accused me of name dropping. Dixon's locale and occupation gives him more fodder for discussing people with which many of us are familiar with. Is this wrong? Should he only give vague references to these people, or should he not discuss details of his profession at all? He's made it clear that he's not famous, just another working actor. I've met and worked with a considerable amount of famous legal types, but I haven't mentioned them here because few would have a clue who I was talking about. Dixon can mention the people he's met/seen because we know who they are.

I don't consider it name dropping if it fits into the conversation. There's a difference between throwing a famous name into a conversation just to make yourself feel important, and mentioning in passing that you saw so-and-so at the grocery store. I've never noticed that DCL uses his proximity to fame to attempt to impress or deceive.
