Well with Superhero movies now being the talk of the town I figured it to be fun to talk about what kind of superhero movie we would like to see. My problem with Super hero movies (because I used to collect the comics) is that they get the characters wrong. The Person I'm about to name is a clear example of that.
I have a weakness for the "Underestimate this girl at your own peril" kind of superheroes.
So with me, it's Jubilee without a doubt.
Jubilee is a girl in her mid teens who's short, shouty, bratty, a total tomboy, but when she cuts loose is extremely powerful.
She appeared in the cartoon series, the "Generation X" movie and in the background of almost every X-men movie but they didn't get her right. Because in those series she's portrayed as a little girl who constantly needs supervision and is living in a foster home.
Jubilee and Wolverine in the X-men Cartoon series.
Jubilee in "Generation X"
Jubilee in "X-men"
I found the explanation on why her character was changed when I started reading the old issues of the comic series. The role Jubilee had in the cartoon series was actually Kitty Pryde's but because of Pryde not being a regular character in the issues back then, they used Jubilee instead and gave her Pryde's mannerism
The Jubilee they SHOULD make a movie about is the Jubilee who was orphaned, lived on the streets, fought, stole to survive and basically was a tough girl.
One of Jubilee's earliest appearences, stealing to survive.
But as tough, sassy and streetwise as she was, she still had a lot of pent up grief over the loss of her parents, her being homeless and not having a normal childhood a side that would only came out when being with her surrogate dad. Jubilee had this close Father-Daughter bond with Wolverine, so maybe she should appear in a movie of the Wolverine franchise.
The scene where Jubilee first encounters Wolverine, I can so see this in a movie.
Again though, in every appearance Jubilee played the role of Kitty Pryde, in "Generation X" the movie Emma Frost and Banshee pick her up at her foster parents house and that tough "If I say jump you say 'How high?'" 'tude, that the streetwise Jubilee from the comics had in spades, wasn't there at all.
