What kind of stories fit in Erotic Horror?

I got an idea for a story the other night: at a high level, you have a couple kidnapped out of an airBnB and brought to a compound where guys are kept drugged up and edged constantly, and then one woman every so often is forced to run a maze and try to escape from the desperate horny men. Obvious consequences if they're caught.

Assuming my author chops are up to writing it convincingly, I feel like it would fit in erotic horror, (substitute sex for killing and it would be a horror movie or an episode of Criminal Minds, probably) but I'm not familiar with stories from that category. Just looking at the titles it seems more like the stories focus on paranormal activity, not actual horror scenarios, and obviously there'd be a lot of non-consent in this story. So if I write it, what category would be better?

EH is mostly paranormal, and that's generally what the readers are there for. A few real world stories go in there and do fairly well once in a while, but it's not pushing the right button for the majority of the readers.

Sounds like Non-con would be a better fit to me, although I have very little experience with the category. It also sounds as if it could potentially be in rejection territory for the psychological torment. It depends on how you write it.

Yeah, I've never seen an EH story where threat of rape alone constituted the "horror" aspect. Not that it's not horrific, but that specific kind of horror seems to live in NC. (To the extent that moderation allows it to live anywhere here.)

Be aware that the content restrictions seem to be enforced a bit more strictly for more "realistic" stories; vampires or succubi killing their sex partners will often fly in EH, sexualised murder elsewhere is likely to bounce.

(somehow originally posted this nudge on the wrong forum, apologies!)

Hiya, here's Helen in Blood Beasts, Kait & Maddie in Two Girls, Belle (fucks a man to death in a jacuzzi), Mae tempts Nick to a grisly fate on the last train home, some of my 12 or so erotic horror / dark fiction / noir stories in Blushes in the Dark by me HJ Furl on Amazon. Most of these stories, tho' steamy-sexy, are too dark for Literotica, but I've had them all recorded by amazing actors Isla, Cherry and Nikki and you can experience them for free at my website: ***** - so don't get too caught up with genres - just write and enjoy being risque! - Harriet -Jacqui Furl x

These forums don't point-blank ban authors from talking about their off-site activities, or linking to such things in a signature. But I notice you're plugging these sites a lot, and there comes a point where it starts feeling less like engaging in conversation and more like using the forums for promo. At that point the mods may take exception. (I'm not a mod.)

I see EB's already pointed you to https://forum.literotica.com/thread...ks-for-literotica-authors-only.569279/page-97 which is a good place to plug that stuff, but you might consider dialling it back a little on the rest of the forums.

As you surmise and other comments confirm, EH here seems to focus on paranormal horror. I have two stories there, one is modeled after 'Invasion of the Body Snatchers' (with alien body snatchers) and the other is about a horrific situation (a biker gang has taken over an abandoned church and during a massive gangbanger Halloween party the church catches fire and, well, you get it.) The fire is tied to a sex cult being interrupted during a planned human sacrifice in a hidden attic room. But nothing obviously alien or paranormal (although hinted at.)

Both stories do reasonably well, both walk the 'H' badge (a new vote pushes above, next vote drops just below). But clearly neither is in the top rank for the category.

I'll second that NC is probably the better category here. You'll also have to walk the rape tightrope here.

I've always thought that seems to be a lot of overlap between Erotic Horror, NonHuman, and Fantasy. Vampires could fit into any of the three or even Mind Control at a push. I'd say scrap NonHuman and have everything go into EH, but that's actually the smallest category in terms of story. I suppose it all works, especially since NH has gotten a lot more anthro stories in recent years.

The OP example seems to be a NC story to me though.

OP, I agree with the others. Your proposal sounds more non-con than erotic horror, which tends towards the paranormal rather than straight "horrific".

I put my Winter Holiday story, A Krissmas Karole in EH because I tried to re-do A Christmas Carole with a truly original twist (I think I nailed it). The original Dickens story was a horror story.

I see this as straddling EH and non-con, but the problem with putting it in non-con is the non-con rule. If they're not enjoying it, it doesn't belong in non-con. You can probably get away with them not enjoying it better in erotic horror.

Horror doesn't have to be supernatural, necessarily, although I would agree most of the EH I've read at Literotica has a supernatural element.

Did you get any negative feedback? I have written a couple of ghost stories for the Halloween contest, and took some flak for putting them in EH. Apparently, some of the readers there don't consider ghost stories to be horror.

There were ghosts and near death experiences so I belive that it fit quite well. The only negative comment I received was from some anonymous character who didn't realize that your glasses will frost over when you step outside in -30 weather

Just posted Click and Collect: The Prenup in LW and received a bunch of comments back saying this is actually Erotic Horror. Now, I took a look there and it seems to be spooks and curses and such, not the psychological horror of having to choose between getting kicked out of a marriage or subjecting yourself to indefinite confinement.

I have another one ready to go, a mind control story with a twist at the end, that could also fit into EH. But (drumroll), EH seems like a bit of a ghost town (I'll be here all week, try the veal) - is it worth bothering?

Yeah, it's not blazing hot, but there doesn't seem to be a lot of trolls hanging around there either. I don't go looking for where the readers are hanging out, I just try to find a good fit for my stories.

It's a bit quiet, but the comments I have received there have generally been thoughtful.

If it's got a major mind control theme, put it in Mind Control. The clue is in the category title.

I check out EH occasionally, but rarely find anything there that trips my trigger. In my mind I see EH, Non-human, and Sci-fi as closely related.
