....scarier, a snake or a shark?

That really should be "What are scarier, snakes or sharks?" but I had a little grammar trouble this evening. I must be more tired than I thought.

Having grown up in South Florida--which had plenty of snakes before the developers took over, and has the occasional shark attack--I'd have to say a shark is scarier, without a doubt, . You can get away from a snake, if you see it soon enough. And if you don't, its bite isn't likely to kill you--there are few that have the ability, especially in the U.S.

On the other hand, the shark can lurk unseen about as easily as a snake, and it can move much, much faster in the water than a human. Also, if riled up, more sharks have the ability to kill, or at least take one of your limbs. They can attack multiple times, after all, and you can't get away easily at all.

Yes, but for some reason snakes freak me out more. Why is that?

What is sillier, American Idol or Dancing with the Stars?

I guess I'll be your answer man, again, and gladly so. :rose:

Snakes just have a very high creepiness factor. The cold blood, the skin and shedding, the forked tongue...Seems to affect women more than men.

Hmmm...I don't ever watch either one, but I hate American Idol more. The winners go on to annoy me with albums, etc., and some of their songs get on the radio. (I'll spare you my extended rant on how the show essentially ignores the value of songwriting and homogenizes musical genres, and Simon Cowell's utter lack of taste.) The Dancing with the Stars people just go back to being famous or sort-of famous, as the case may be. It's just dancing.

I think snakes are scarier, because they can be anywhere. Sharks can only be in the water.

Whats sillier, American Idol or dancing with the stars.

For me it would be Dancing with the stars.. they are Stars for goodness sakes.

Unless we're talking a snake big enough to eat your alive I'm going with sharks.

Both are pretty equally cool.

Though, I've been interested in sharks since I was kid; I hope one day to swim with them, and to posses a degree in marine biology.

So niether, I guess.

A spider though, that's a scary little critter for sure.

Taking a page from Jack Handy's book, a snake on a shark, both armed with lazers and riding an elephant.

Shark, getting away from a shark would be more frightening and getting killed by one would be far more painful and gruesome.

I would say a snake. How would you like to be not even a foot away from a Boa Constrictor in Florida?

Was that were that woman was that found the 7 ft. snake curled up in the toilet while washing her hands?

Nope, I was real young and I was pretty close to a Boa Constrictor.

I have had several snakes over the years... would like to get a bredl's python now. Nothing wrong with a snake they are incredible creatures. Beautiful too.

Well, and for that matter, sharks are beautiful too, and an integral part of the ecosystems in which they live.

But they're still scary to me, and so are snakes.
