What is your greatest fear?

groups and swarms of insects

There is something about the motion, the compound miniscule insensate writhing across the surface of a tight-packed mass of small mindless creatures. The scintillant reflection of the carapaces, the myriad tiny legs, and the eerie dry creaky rustling, clicking, and squeaking of waxy hard bodies with no souls, no intentions, no conscience, merely an indiscriminate ravenous destructive power and a tendency to cluster together, hide anywhere. Turn up a rotting log! lift the clapboard in the sagging wall! Descend into the drains beneath the city which extend into every snug home, open the pine coffin!

Or wait, helpless, staked mercilessly still breathing, over the small pustule, the anthill, like the tip of the iceberg compared with the unknown interconnected breeding and feeding chambers, eggs, larvae, helplessly writhing food sources, and ramified tunnels beneath you. Wait, but not long, for the first light touches of the soft abdomens and hard pointed legs. Obscene violations felt along the hairs of arms and scalp, legs and softer places which have no jaws to lock shut or lids to close...

Ants, ants everywhere... they're coming to get me!!

LOL sorry, couldn't resist.

and (LOL The Mutt... a dog scared of a bit of pussy?)

It is an unpleasant picture, but at one time it was a big gut reaction fear of mine. I had dreams, several times, of a swarm of bees, formed into a disk on the ground.

Ever see the little black specks left by flies on things? Shit, doubtless, I daresay. This disk of bees on the ground lifted off, still tightly packed in a yellow and black buzzing disk, with some of them making little loops, up, around and back in.

BzzZZZzz... The disk flies slowly in a meandering flight pattern, slows, and lands on the top of my bookcase, bounces once, then just a little bounce, and the buzzing diminishes. The spot on the ground has black specks scattered on it like freckles. The green grass there has acquired a yellowish dusting of pollen, too.

The disk lifted off the bookcase in my bedroom, buzzed, still together , to the nightstand, landed with a double bounce as before. The yellow circle on the bookcase has black specks in it.

The nightstand to the floor, the floor to the desk, the desk to the gently rising and falling covers over my chest. Each time the little bounce before they settle. I can see no details, even this close, but the little loopers out, around and back in seem to be making bigger loops.

Weird image, the disk of bees. In the dream, they were fascinating but not terrifying. But if you open up a metal box to find it packed solid with earwigs or lift the lid off a fuse panel to find it jammed full of termites, it does blindside a person into a startle.

As a nine-year-old cleaning out a hundred forty year old cellar, it really hit me hard to see the earwig masses.

It's not 'hard' to figure out why 'doggy' style is my fave ;-)

id have to say waking up where i didnt go to sleep, being tied up with red candles lit everywhere. That would freak me out big time. Ive had dreams like that and wake up sweating.

being trapped in - and dying in - a fire. not the smoke inhalation part, but the being caught on fire and burning alive part. it's always been my biggest fear, but once I read in graphic medical detail what it's like to be on fire and be burned alive ... well ... let's just say I didn't sleep well for days.

Mine's always been having my throat cut, but burning alive scares the crap out of me too.

When I was in Bali one year, I almost drowned. It's funny, I used to think that was a fear of mine, yet when it happened, I felt really calm.

We were in neck deep water and a huge wave hit us. I panicked (I know, worst thing to do), and in my desperation to get air, I got disoriented and swam downward instead of toward the surface. If it hadn't been for my friend grabbing me, I wouldn't be here today.

Right now, my greatest fear is my ex getting access to my kids.

I go to court in the morning for a custody battle. He hasn't even called since Easter, when he didn't even show to pick them up. Months ago it was agreed in mediation that he got shared Christmas only, but he didn't put the paperwork in. Now the fate of my kids lays in the hands of a total stranger.

I'm rambling because I'm stressed :(

Oh, that was you? Sorry. You're not suposed to remember any of that stuff after we put you back in your bed.

:p

sometimes it seems like I don't get it often enough(hey, I'm a 26 year old guy, what can I say?) so when I do get some I find myself worrying about hurting something in the heat of the moment

You know what scares the crap out of me? Four more years of Bush/Cheney.

Not as much as Kerrry/Edwards scares me! :p

Yep, that is scary. Imagine. If we had a Democrat in the White House the last four years, Osama Bin Laden would still be on the loose, we would have record deficits, and veteran's benefits would be cut.
Hey, wait a minute....

:rose:

honestly, I don't like either of my choices for the next four years. I'll probably end up voting for some independent candidate, or maybe just abstaining altogether in protest. Hard to say....

As distasteful as you might find the choices, PLEASE VOTE! The one thing that makes our country great is our ability to choose our leaders.

I do understand that - but what good is a vote when you don't like the choices offered? I'm voting in the primary, and we'll see what happens.... it's just too bad that the republicans don' t see the light and put up someone else instead of GWB. Instead, people will have to vote for the lesser of two evils....and personally, I don't consider that much of a choice.

I think in this election it is the choice between lesser and evil.
I'll gladly trade you my body for your vote.
Oh, the things I do for my country.

Nearly as bad is having nobody respond to my postings.

You know I will always read your scribbling. But my worst fear has got to be not enjoying life and all the possibility’s it has to offer.
Love Always MsLinnet

When I was younger, my greatest fear was of my mom finding out where I was going online.
