What is truely freedom? America? I think not. Prove me wrong.

Are we completely free to do anything we please? No

Is that a good thing? For the most part I think so.

Is any other country more devoted to providing freedom to its citizens than America? I think not. Prove me wrong.

Freedom is relative. There is no such thing as absolute freedom.

One necessary (but perhaps not sufficient) criteria for me to consider a nation "free" would be that it allows it's citizens to leave the country if they choose.

Life, Liberty, Pursuit of Happiness.....

You have to define your freedom as it's individual, from one person to the next. There are people who think they are free living in a cage of restrictive laws and government oversight. There are people like me who don't like to be told what to do, and when I distance myself from the "controllers" in life, I do feel "free."
I've always held to the definition that freedom is you doing what you need to do to make you happy, as long as it doesn't present a physical threat to another, or their property.
That also fits into my idea of what "liberty" is.
I think with the encroachment of restrictive legislation, and nosey motherfuckers that get into your life, the pursuit of happiness will be narrowly defined. It might get down to "pursuit of survival," with taxes, and work defining the rest! :D
