What is torture?

Taking amicus off ignore?

I never had him on ignore. He reminds me of the futility of rational thought in this world of steaming excess.

What interests me about this is the "scum vs. scumbag" that plays though our society. I'll bet every one of those CO's are Flag waving patriots, yet in their bureaucratic persona's they become less than compassionate humans.

Police and correction officers put up with a lot of shit from the 'scum' they deal with and unless we care for them, they become sub-human, defeating the 'corrective detention" ideals.

And who is allowed a pass if a convicted prostitute dies, well everyone, she was just a whore, who cares?

I'll bet there is a plot bunny in it.

I found him and his kind just too depressing to even know about. It's about the same as the Elizabeth George book I just struggled through (What Came Before He Shot Her). No matter how good the writing or well done the plot, it's just too dreary, lacking hope, and depressing to have to endure. So, I just turn away and let folks like amicus rot in their self-made hell.

As for the social conscious dilemma stuff, I'll just voice/vote my consience now--and not wrap myself in the overwhelming tragedy of it all. I spent my crusader days inside the government--and inside one of the seamier aspects of it.
