What is the key to unlocking your heart?

Al Gore would have called it a "lock box". And don't despair... they found the Titanic, right? (It only took 70 years. :) )

I'm pretty sure it's safe and secure inside an enormous ice berg!

Jinkies. I'm thinking how to answer this seriously. Usually the question's phrased, "what's the quickest way to your heart?" and I have a standard answer of "straight through the rib cage."

Honesty. A person who's honest with me, even when what's being said isn't what I want to hear, tempered with kindess.

That and a smooth, low voice will get me every time. ;)

Actually, I'm going to add one thing. Someone who's as interested in pleasing me as much as I'm interested in pleasing them. Selfish, grabby people hold no interest for me.

Manners, grace, patience, intelligence, intuition, loyalty, posture, taste, humour, compassion, libido, kink, submissiveness and a great ass go a long way with me.

I've really enjoyed reading the responses in this thread. Very interesting take everyone has...hmm.

Would require a skillfull locksmith of a female, as I threw the key away long ago. Plus, I have a lot of things that opens me to a partner, and like tumblers in a lock, each has to be moved for the key to work.

Ditto. Only Lost Cause said it *way* more eloquently than I could ever have. ;)

Is there a key that will unlock your heart?

For me it is a fantastic mind tempting thoughts to run rampant while having thoroughly engaging discussions, a terrific sense of humor making me laugh out loud (snort even), a smooth sensual voice caressing me with every vocalization, a body that calls to mine arousing sensations with mere suggestions, a strength of character that speaks volumes to who this individual is and continues to become...someone who adores me and shows it continously...hmmm...I know there is more...

Oh, someone who can cook...definitely...I need someone who can satisfy my appetite.

I miss seeing your threads around Darlin.

You pretty much said it for me, but I could add the way he treats me, it's something I could never put into words. Or at least do it justice with my words. He makes me feel good to just be me. I am so happy, I am beside myself. This sort of feeling is so new to me. Being loved, for being me. Not who someone wants me to be. Having my faults. Being able to say, I am bothered by something, and actually have someone say, I see that. But it's okay. There isn't another shoe waiting to drop this time. This is how life is suppose to be. I guess in my own rambling state I am saying, the key to unlocking my heart is being loved for just being me. Someone seeing the real me ... and loving that person.

Thanks sweets! This is wonderful! I'm very happy for you!

I'd say all that helps, but basically it's what Fly said...

I agree with that Pixie but I am curious to know what sends someone when they are around someone else...what "melts" their heart?

I have been giving this a great deal of thought...and I am still not quite sure what the answer is.

My heart has been truely unlocked...and I think it was a mixture of wit, charm, honesty, wisdom, friendship, patience, passion, and humaness.... I could go on forever...

I dont know how he did it I dont think even HE knows how he did it....but he did.

honesty and compassion

I agree with those...very important! They tie in with trust...

The key to my heart is to make me feel safe. Help me to trust you (figuratively speaking). If I cannot trust you, then all the love, great sex and getting along with my kids means very little. When I get to a place where I will let you tie my hands and feet, and then have your way with me...then you know I trust you. :)

Tom T. Hall said it for me in a song called the Cowboy and the Poet:

"It's faster horses, younger women, Older whiskey, and more money"

WhoooWaaa!

A man who knows when to be serious and when to be silly.

Someone who I can lean on when I want to.. who will offer me support without telling me how he thinks I should fix the problem. Who can look at me with a wicked grin and devilment in his eyes and make me forget why I was upset with him in the first place.

A man who can teach me what he's learned in his lifetime and who is also willing to learn what I have in mine. Compassion, kindness, strength of mind and character who's actions speak more than words.

I loved everything you posted but this really jumped out at me as I know I have thought this very thing if not posted it before! :)

You put this so beautifully, so completely.....how blessed I am to know and love a person who fits this description.

Thanks Pseudomoniker! I'd forgotten about this thread.

Trail48, it is good that you have found your key. Not everyone does.

Mines locked up so tight I’ve forgotten what unlocks it. It might even be too rusty to open once unlocked. If you can figure out what unlocks it let me know.

calypso

i've seen your photos
and read your massage
and find it hard to believe you
haven't found the man with the key.

but then again i waited forty-eight years . . .
not always patiently

i suppose there are many keys
but the ones that come to mind:
someone who sees me for who i am,
who believes in me, in my essential goodness,
with a smile that melts me,
a body that rocks me,
a mind that keeps me amazed . . .

It's funny that I know more about what closes my heart than what opens it. All I do know is that I want to be valued.
