What is the ideal profession for a dominant?

To clarify the question, I'm not asking which profession seems the most dominant to you. Rather, if you could pick a person from any profession who also happens to be dominant and sadistic, from which profession would you pluck your prize and why? Does practicing certain professions add to a dominant's domming skills or allure? This is meant to be light, of course, not really a serious question.

For me it's almost a tossup between doctor and great fiction writer, although one does win out.

Doctors make super doms, if they are so inclined, because they have easy access to a lot of very interesting "toys" and, more importantly, they know how to use them. Also, you are far less likely to die under a doctor's attentions than you are under anyone else's... unless he wants you to, of course, which means there's a lot more you can do edgeplay-wise with doms of that profession.

However, a great fiction writer (as in Pulitzer Prize winning Phillip Roth types) have something that makes extreme torture, humiliation, and mind-altering toys and the corresponding esoteric knowledge pale in comparison: a superb imagination. So I nominate the great writer as the ideal dominant.

LOL, not sure there is any profession which is a good indication, though personality can be. Intelligence is a must, above average a plus. Of course being biased here :) I have to choose Penetration Experts (IT security whizz kids) for profession, with perhaps teaching (likely academic more so than general school) as a good second possibility. Then of course areas of science seem to attract those cool, quiet types that have a wealth of intelligent perversion simmering underneath the outward disguise. :p

Ooooooh, fun topic!

Geez, T has all this training and experience in music....if he used his powers for evil, our scenes could take on a whole new depth of sensory fun. But he doesn't. *grumble* Guess I'll have to fall back on the patience he's developed as a teacher. (And he always seems to know that it's me throwing the wad of paper at the back of his head!)

I do wholeheartedly agree with your author nomination. Here are more fun ideas...

*How about a dog trainer? So much applicable background.

*Anyone who is successful in the business world ought to know how to manipulate people.

*Electrician. Need I say more?

*Professional chef, for many of the reasons you proposed for the good doctor: Precision, deliberation, and access to lots of fun toys!

Oh, and T just suggested one that might even topple the novelist:

Psychologist.

Perhaps a Psychologist who has leather working and blacksmithing as hobbies?

Ding!

Can we add movie star or famous musician to this list?

I felt rather Domly as a teacher. I wonder if law will give me the same satisfaction.

The guy in "Topping From Below" was a professor who played classical piano like a pro. That was pretty cool.

I did love that. Creative power channeled through your hands...very yummy.

Interesting.

I've had pets and potential pets from most of the occupations mentioned. IT professions - particularly those in security, lawyers, artists, and one doctor. All were very submissive.

Retail management would be my pick. You frequently have to tell people no, assign very unpleasant tasks, reward exceeding limits, and (my personal favorite) policy is frequently based on whim.

I think you will. All the lawyers I've known have been real controlling bastards. ;)

That's good! They're used to ordering people around.

Dentist is my favorite so far, though, I think. Pretty damn appropriate! :)

Well, a cop would be nice. He can pull you over and spank you for speeding. And you get handcuffs too. How fun! But yes, I suppose someone that owned some type of BDSM toy company would be the most fun sadist to play with.

Hmm... I knew a lawyer who specialized in death penalty case defense. Tough, tough guy in the courtroom - terrorized prosecutors, intimidated the judges. On his off-time, at our BDSM club, he was a pure masochist sub, gettin' his ass beat by a skinny blonde Domme and lovin' it...

Hmmm. I may need to go back to Doctors. Whilst looking for pictures of humble oral servitude in an unsorted pics directory I came across this charming little antique:

Choice of Profession.

Does being in a certain profession make one more dominant or submissive. If someone is a high powered CEO will that person be a dominant or submissive on their off time? Or it does not matter...

I'm personally partial to contractors. :D

How about politicians? They sure think they know what's best for you.

*grins* some of us subs have rather nasty sharp teeth, yes.
