And your point is?

Your intelligent, you function well. 8th grade, 12th grade, college graduate, what difference does it make?

It Makes NO Difference Darling!

I Was Mery Curious About The Floks Here At Lit:)

In My Older Age Now, I Find That I Regret Not Completing My Education.

I'll bite...

Got through 2 years of college. Was a year shy of graduating when I said "screw this" and never looked back.

right now I have two college diplomas...but I still plan on going back to school (hopefully)...

OK.....

I'm a college grad. I'm an engineer. Does this make me a better person? Not necessarily, I still put my pants on one leg at a time. (Take them of the same way) ;)

Well, I agree that it doesn't matter in a lot of ways, perseverance and smarts and people skills (those things that make success, IMHO) aren't always measured by a person's degree.
But since you say you're interested I'll answer - a Specialists degree (which is an Education degree only - about halfway between a Masters and a PHD or EDD.
Doubt I'll ever get any more, but willful continues to go to school, who knows what she'll end up with.....
Hope that was what you wanted to know....

I think

Education is extremely important in life. Please don't tell my children (or any children) that education is not important.

I doubt that education makes you a "better person" on the inside. It doesn't make your heart more caring, or your life more meaningful. But education can make your life easier, and your self-esteem better. Education can provide a better job and a higher standard of living.

Pop-culture can provide young people with a FALSE sense of the importance of education. Teenage muisc stars and uneducated professional athletes seem to set an unrealistic example that there are other ways to "get ahead" in life without an education. In truth, the only way a person can control their own destiny is through education and hard work.

Just a thought

Not that it matters but....

I just got my Bachelor of Applied Science and Engineering.

If only someone could fix my toaster...

I'll agree that education is definitely a very important "tool" it helps you achieve what you want. But it ultimately does come down to who you are on the inside that determines where you end up.

well said gentlemen

and you must be willing to work hard to get where you want to be. and education is a part of that.

My goal is to go back and get my Masters degree in Nursing. I would love to teach. I love what I do as a Trauma Nurse but I can't see me doing that as I get older, too hard on the body and the soul. Hopefully soon I will begin to get the initiative and drive to the university and apply. Hopefully.

My Kid WILL Go All The Way!

I Agree Texan:)

I Will Make Every Effort To Make Learnig A Fun Thing Fer My Daughter. She Will Never Feel The Way I Did. Never!

I Must And WILL Go Back. Now It'll Be A Much Better Mindset For Me Too:)

Thank you Registered. You always had that faith in me. And my co-workers are biased, they love me, lol.. And I will teach Trauma Nursing one day as we talked about. Just getting harder to get motivated the older I get. Hugs to you..:)

I'm have a BS in Psychology. (Talk about practically worthless.) I'm working on a Master's in Education (typing final draft of my thesis as I type this)

I'm considering continuing for an Education Specialist's.

I'm one of those people that love's school. Between my BS and starting the Masters program, I completed a Child Development Associate and have hours from the University of Wisconsin in Child Development. My family says that if I ever stop going to school, they'll know it's time to call a funeral director.

I know so many people (and have heard many on this board) that say they want to go back to school. For many reasons, people stop school before they go as far as they want to go. Or, some people realize later that more education would benefit them.

For many people, life's responsibilities make it impossible to go back to school. For those who want to go back and have the ability, I think there is little excuse.

I often think of human things in scientific terms. In physics there are laws related to inertia. One of the most basic laws of inertia says, "bodies in motion tend to stay in motion, while bodies at rest tend to stay at rest". The derivative law says, "to put a body at rest into motion requires the application of energy".

If a person has a goal, and really wants to do something, it will require the application of some energy to make it happen. It will NEVER happen on its own. If a person wants to continue their education, it takes a decision then the application of some energy.

To add a little credibility to what I'm saying, let me mention that I earned an MA English, an MA Speech, and a Ph.D. Physics, while married with a child. You bet it took the application of some energy. But the payoff is pretty nice.

Higher ED

I believe that the level of someone's education says a lot about them. For instance, I will recieve my Ph.D. in a few weeks. This means that I will be entering the real world for the first time at 32. I am overeducated and underpaid.

I have a friend from high school who started mowing lawns and never went to college. His landscaping business is worth a few million dollars today. (I'd have to have an inexhastable supply of blood plasma to make a million dolars at this point)

There definitely is a difference between educated and smart!
