What did you like most about that job? Why did you leave it?

fgarvb1's thread http://forum.literotica.com/showthread.php?t=658457, inspired me to ask this.

The coolest job I ever had was a part time, on/off again gig as a waiter for 12 years. At least, I was never dropped from the payroll. I had the luxery of basicly working there whenever I pleased. Of course there were times I would go in at a minute's notice or drop in to say 'Hi' and end up working a few hours.

What I liked most........The owner was/is such a cool person. Everyone likes and respects him. It was extra cash I never spent, mostly a place for occupying my time in between my independant, odd jobs. I met some nice people and sometimes hooked up with some women there. Looking back, the job filled a void in my life in more ways than one.

I left it when corporate office went started buying and taking full ownership of its' independents. They were assholes who had no fucking clue what they were doing. They drove that place into the ground in less than 6 months.

I maintain an ongoing friendship/work relation with that owner. I have allways done some type odd job for him. With the restaurant it was mostly maintaining the huge lawn and landscaping. I have done odd jobs for his 2 homes and still do when time permits.

The one I'm currently in for the last 19 years! I love my boss. I love how flexible the owners are. I love that they don't care when I come in just as long as I put in 8 hours. There are many things that have kept me there. I love the summer time barbeque's in the parking lot where the owners do the cooking. All in all it's a fun place to work.

Mr. Prefect

Once I worked for a high tech firm for a boss whose attitude was that the people who reported to him were capable of doing a good job, and they wanted to, and that it was his responsibility to make it possible for them to do so. He could do each of our jobs better than we could, but he knew he was a genius, and he did not expect us to be perfect like he was. He did not expect deference from us, and wanted to be treated like an equal. :)

In a job review he told me I completed my assignments faster than the other people who reported to him and with fewer errors, and that the design engineers always wanted me to do their projects. :D

Then there was one of these pointless reorganizations you read about in the Dilbert comic strip, and I got a boss who was his opposite in every respect. :(

Those things are really important when it comes to loving your job. I believe the employer gets more quality and enthusiastic work from workers in such situations. Money cannot buy those type work environments.

I have been employed at this job for 7 months. The pay sucks, but the fringe benefits are wonderful. Good medical and dental. I sold my house to take a rent free apartment. All of us are a bit too anal, but they are wonderful people. In many ways, we are like a family to each other. Well structured and consistant in so many ways. This is the first job in 20 years where I would go to bat for every person I work with. :)

Where do you work?

I've always managed to have really cool jobs all through my life. I've never had to go the corporate route. There have been a few that truly sucked but they didn't last long.

The job I have now is the best though. I've been there five years and plan on retiring there. It's a lot of fun, fits my philosophy and personality to the tee, is flexible and I meet the most amazing people on a daily basis. I have health/dental insurance and it's employee owned. It's a huge community, many people live there and it's like going to summer camp everyday!
