I lean toward "trainee," or perhaps "seeker." However, seeker can apply to many - perhaps most - of us. Even after more than 30 years in our culture, I still seek more knowledge of its denizens, practices and mores.

On a related but separate note [semi-hijack], I try not to use "lifestyle" to describe WIITWD, because it tends to imply that we choose to be who and what we are.
