What is something from your youth

They had to teach you and me that we were expendable assets (or not really assets at all!).

Oh yeah, the CO made it quite clear that a few hundred thousand had been spent on my training, but those aircraft costs millions a piece...

How about Styrofoam burger boxes. I remember when all McD's were in those things?

Wrong again.

John Frederick Parker, Lincoln's lone bodyguard that evening, was not at his post just outside Lincoln's box at the moment of assassination. Booth may have gained access to Ford's theater by presenting credentials or merely upon recognition. He was an accomplished actor, after all. But he was most certainly NOT admitted to the President's box "by the soldier on duty."

Booth had bored a small spyhole into the door to the box earlier.

Parker was actually charged with neglect of duty and tried on May 3, 1865 but no transcripts of the case were kept. The complaint was dismissed on June 2, 1865.

So, security in those days was even more relaxed than I thought.

No Beards when I was in the Navy. Could not get a good seal on your oxygen breathing apparatus. Kind of hard to fight a fire if you can not breath. Could not see well out of it, but you had air.

The universe of factual information that is demonstrably at odds with what you "think" is astounding. As just one example:

If there's anything that makes me suspect a conspiracy behind the JFK assassination, Oswald's assassination by mobbed-up Jack Ruby is it.

Ruby was hardly "mobbed up." He was nothing more than a two-bit strip club operator and a "hanger-on." He certainly had personal contacts with a handful of organized crime figures but there is no evidence he was a crew member in any crime family or that he ever performed a prior mob 'hit' or even applied "muscle" to any victim at the behest of mob bosses. Not one of his seven arrests since 1949 by the Dallas police prior to Oswald's shooting had a mob connection. It was all nickle and dime shit.

Common sense tells us if you want to preserve the secret of a criminal conspiracy, you tell as few people as possible. Furthermore, there was no indication that the quiet, nearly anti-social Oswald was anywhere near confessing any responsibility to either killing JFK or officer J. D. Tippit -- a fact Ruby could have easily found out through his various contacts within the Dallas Police Department. Conversely, if anyone demonstrated the personality of someone who might not be able to keep a secret it would have been the flamboyant club hustler Jack Ruby.

And this is who YOU would hire to make certain the conspiracy would not unravel? And who would you then hire to kill HIM?? Because allowing THAT loud mouth to continue to live with the secret of an assassination conspiracy would be far riskier than merely entrusting it to Oswald.

Furthermore, all evidence indicates that Ruby was, like most Americans, emotionally distraught in the days immediately following Kennedy's assassination. Killing JFK's alleged killer upon someone else's orders would unarguably indicate the existence of a conspiracy to Ruby and would obviously immediately involve him as a co-conspirator in the assassination of the very person whose death he grieved. Does that make sense to you?

Finally, if you know anything about Oswald's killing, you know that Ruby showed up at Oswald's proposed transfer to the Dallas County jail a full hour AFTER it had been originally scheduled and the press had been told to assemble for the coverage, and that Ruby had actually arrived in the DPD basement mere minutes before the transfer took place and then only after stopping off at a Western Union telegraph office to wire money to one of his strippers currently out of town.

Cutting it awfully close, don'tcha think?

Oh, I forgot. You don't really think.

Royal Navy still allows a full beard with full moustache. Pioneer battalions in Commonwealth nations are allowed full beards by tradition. US submariners may be able to grow beards with Captains permission. Not sure if last one still holds.

The tradition in the Royal Navy is that the sailor 'requests permission to stop shaving'. After a month the result is examined by an officer. If the beard is reasonable the sailor is allowed to keep it. If not? He is ordered to start shaving again. The sailor can remove his beard at any time, but if he wants to grow it again he has to go through the same procedure.

My elder brother did his National Service in the Royal Navy. He was on a destroyer in the Mediterranean. He requested permission to stop shaving and grew a satisfactory beard. But when he returned to a UK for a short posting his fiancée didn't like the beard, so he shaved it off.

But his upper face was tanned and weather beaten. His lower face was pasty white. This was 1959. They tried to match the colour of the upper face with fake tan. But 1959 fake tan was dreadful. He had a tanned upper face and a bright orange lower face. For a couple of weeks his fiancée would use cream foundation all over his face before allowing him to take her to social events.

When he returned to sea his unbearded face gradually started to match but he was ribbed by his mates while the orange fake tan faded. His officer considered ordering him to grow a beard to cover the orange but there was no Navy regulation that allowed an officer to issue such an order...

Oswald was a Marxist nut bar. Ruby was an idiot out for revenge and fame. The Cubans wanted nothing to do with Oswald and the Russian may have kept him for slight propaganda value.

Having Trump assassinated would just make him a Republican and alt-right martyr. Best if he struggles for four years, contributes to Democrats regaining Congress and the Senate and then fades into obscurity as a failed one term president.

A disgruntled alt-right supporter killing him would serve to do a lot of damage to the alt-right cause. But best if he goes out with a whimper not a bang.

having to actually play outside WITH OTHER PEOPLE because there were only 7 tv channels and no social media.
