I think males are attracted to women partly because we are hard-wired that way, and that their body's are much more of a streamlined, naturally beautiful shape. honestly, i agree with the above post. you dont see any products shaped to resemble a limp cock... that wouldn't be attractive.

I think, from a non-sexual view points, it's mostly that women are soft and gentle in the way they look and feel.

Actually we might have to look at the levels of beauty first.

Attractive
It's modern usage is not really the same as it's literal translation:
Not quite ugly but not quite pretty (a diamond in the rough)
Cute
Cute looks usually has a cute personality (you'll know it when you see it), but one can be cute and pretty at the same time.
Pretty
Almost every girl is pretty now-a-days, but once in a while you find that special one, which goes back to pretty and cute.
Stunning
Stunning is reserved for three types of women:
Exotic (usually foreign), beautiful (difficult status to achieve, day to day looks), gorgeous (difficult status to achieve and maintain, day to day looks)
Sexy
A personality that can go with the above looks (cute and attractive excluded)
Seductive
A personality that can go with the above looks (all of them)

Just how is that level determined?

To me, seductive is flirtatious or romantic, while sexy is more intimate (by intimate I don't mean sex).

This makes no sense. Straight women by definition do not fantasize about other women. A woman who fantasizes about other women is bisexual or lesbian. As a straight woman I find male bodies much more attractive to look at. If you offered me a stack of male photos or a stack of female photos, not even erotic ones but, say, people in Halloween costumes, I'd pick the male photos every time. Women's shapes aren't unpleasant, they often remind me of fruit (pears, peaches), but I just have much more instinctive interest in the triangles and trapezoids men tend to be built out of than the ovals women tend to be built out of.

I do have strong preferences as far as men's personalities go. I like the archetype of the guy who acts cocky but is inwardly insecure. That's a total cliche of romance novels, but oh well. I also like guys who are brooding/lonely/angsty and needs to be loved and cheered up. That's another archetype, it's extremely common in hurt/comfort romances.

You all are forgetting one thing in sexual preference:
Fantasies/day dreams/dreams are meant to show either the impossible, highly unlikely, or alternate/taboo possibilities.
A straight woman is attracted to a man, but she might fantasize about women in alternate possibilities, or even taboo subject matter like incest.
