What is Putin's objective....it's not primarily sizing Ukraine

The US had not fought an asymmetric war before Vietnam. The British had - in the Malayan emergency and were accused of war crimes for using their opponents' tactics.
Factually not true. The US spent most of the early 20th century waging little Vietnams in Asia and Central America. Learn about Smedley Butler.

And, the US and A fought two-plus centuries of so-called "Indian Wars" across the American West.

Plus, POWs who probably fear for their lives are saying they weren't told they were being sent to Ukraine to engage in close combat. many are starving to death, shitty MREs that expired in 2015 and Third World logistics. Those 290 grains scare him more than Covid, I think.:)
At 7000 Ms he'd never hear or feel a thing.

I feel like the West is managing the eventual demise of Ukraine, giving them just enough defense capability to give Putin a bloody nose, I'm starting to wonder if we should have stayed out of it completely to avoid carnage. If the big five of NATO members felt different upon observation of Putin's murderous agression all five government leaders should in unison on a conference call to Putin demanding demanded he exit Ukraine. The carnage that's going on right now will be a stain on all western countries and we'll have to live under Putin's threat of nuclear blackmail.

when this first happened, the German chancellor and the German opposition party announced their detente and unity over these issues. Germany's government is ramping up for defense against continued Russian Bandits roaming across Europe. It is the United States and Joe Biden in particular, who are tying the hands of NATO nations who remember what the Russians did to Hungary in '56 and Czechoslovakia in '68.

The bloodshed is just beginning. If the Russian Orcs do not leave Ukraine, the terrorism in Russia will begin. Bombings in Moscow supermarkets, explosions in St. Petersburg theaters--the carnage is just beginning.

Meanwhile, the Russian Orcs occupying Ukraine are going to get merc'ed by any one of the 40 million pissed-off Ukrainians.

The sooner the free world stands up to these Russian bullies, the sooner the fighting can end. BAYRAKTAR!

Then, if the U.S. is still backing Ukraine, the Russians will say we're supporting terrorists.

Nobody's listening to the Russians anymore, chief. And when the Ukrainians are blowing up Russians in Moscow, the Russians are going to have bigger problems than assigning blame. :nana:

Biden, Harris and Pelosi, 3 of the dumbest idiots in politics today. All three blaming Putin for our high gas prices and rampant inflation. Why would anyone give Putin any credit for hurting our economy, giving him the incentive to do even stupider shit. Three of the most incompetent politicians in history. We're in crisis mode and these three dipshits are at the helm.

You can't seriously believe Republicans would be handling that any better. The circumstances limit freedom of action.

Biden and Harris are at the helm right now. Save your hypotheticals for someone who gives a shit!

And there is no action they could be taking that would be better than what they are taking.
Drill baby drill, stop blaming everyone else for his fuckups, strap on a pair and lead from the front not from behind the greenies skirts.

They have land to drill on....more land isn't going to make them drill any more.

Biden calling off the anti drilling dogs and changing his dumbass policy will. Lots of land but how much has oil on it. Open everything up. In Alaska oil revenues are shared with its citizens.

They were already not drilling.

They have plenty of land to drill on and aren't.

Additional Federal lands aren't required to produce more.

Oil companies drilling more is
.they already have plenty of "loans", courtesy of our tax dollars

In the end, it won't matter. OPEC+ is expanding production in April as part of their agreement and price will drop.

Sidebote: why is fucker Carlton such a pro Putin asswipe?

Had we remained aloof and the Ukrainians had the same will to fight with what they have, I think the carnage would be much worse. The only thing that is deterring Putin from his known inclinations to slaughter (as in Alleppo, and in Chechnya) is the intense media coverage observing and reporting on Ukraine. Remember, the UN called Grozny, after the second battle of Chechnya prosecuted by Putin, the most destroyed city on earth. Essentially he left it a hole in the ground.

whatever his objectives were, the outcome–inevitably–is he's sealed his own historic place as a war criminal: the mass-murderer of civilians

Around 1,300 Ukrainian troops have been killed since the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky said today.
Mr Zelensky also revealed that between 500-600 Russian soldiers had surrendered to Ukrainian forces on Friday.
In the southern port city of Mariupol, which has undergone heavy Russian bombing and a 12-day blockage, at least 1,582 civilians are dead, the city council said on Friday.
“Medicines for life-threatening illnesses are quickly running out, hospitals are only partially functioning, and the food and water are in short supply.”

Just because they have the lands doesn't mean they can actually drill. The leases mean nothing if the feds won't issue the permits to proceed.

It means they can work towards drilling, which they haven't even attempted.

Until they make an attempt, it's on them..we already give them enough money
And we don't even know how much private land they own that they aren't drilling on

This article comes closer to most at explaining what Putin's long term objective is...the downfall of the US by furthering political polorization.

Why didn't Putin make these moves during the 45 administration? It fairly simple to understand....45 was a useful asset to Putin. He would not invade Ukraine or any other country as that would diminish the very favorable relationship he had with 45. He played 45 like a adolescent school boy and he wants more of this.... relationships with doddards who can be easily played and manipulated.

So he waits, til after the election. Putin dispises the establishment in the US and those who will hold him to task... like Biden, the Clintons, the Bushes. Etc... It is way more politically useful to put this burden of an invasion on Biden and the establishment. It favors and promotes more political polorization and upheaval.

Putin is a master...he is playing his cards extremely well and those on both the left and right are amateurs....falling right into his hands.

"Events in the United States have unfolded more favorably than any operative in Moscow could have ever dreamed: Not only did Russia’s preferred candidate win, but he has spent his first term fulfilling the potential it saw in him, discrediting American institutions, rending the seams of American culture, and isolating a nation that had styled itself as indispensable to the free world. But instead of complacently enjoying its triumph, Russia almost immediately set about replicating it. Boosting the Trump campaign was a tactic; #DemocracyRIP remains the larger objective."
Agreed. There is a special unit within the intelligence agency of Russia that is solely devoted to that purpose.
