To hell with "normal", that's for boring people who have nothing better to do with their lives than criticize other for what they themselves are too afraid to do. Be unique, be yourself, be special! Unique people make this world a place worth living in.

I am ME, for me and nobody else, not even my family. I am unique, I am special, and no one will take that from me.

Normal is really just a standard range of behaviours that most people accept right now. Some people adhere to this standard more rigidly than others. I imagine that your acceptance of any particular behaviour depends on your exposure to it as well. I've heard/seen/done dominance, submission and all manner of kinks so this news isn't surprising or even all that offensive. For someone who has no exposure to these things that may not be the case.
