Are people who are drawn to erotic writings naturally overtly sexual? Or is it the impersonal nature of the internet and these boards in particular that gets the webcams out and the clothes off? I'm talking to both men and women here...

Can only speak for one old guy who was never sure whether his physical attributes were actually appealing or if s/o was just saying that to be nice. After taking the initial plunge on Lit it did generate a change of some sort. There was a general boosting of self confidence from all the kind and encouraging words. It was like finally going to a nude beach to see once and for all if you would get accepted or laughed at. There was a sort of release of pent up emotions and a resulting freedom to finally get beyond that first big step. Nice thread. Thanks for asking the question.

I have been to a couple of nudist beaches and I am not exactly body beeyootiful. Well, I'm not a size tiny with long legs and gravity defying boobs, anyway. I can honestly say that I have *never* been laughed at or stared at or pointed at on a nudist beach, nudists love being naked and relish the feeling of independence and freedom it brings. Try it some time, it really is an exhilirating experience

Thanks for adding that. I didn't mean to imply that anyone would really react that way. I was talking about the silly phobias we make up in our own minds. Usually, as you point out, reality is nothing like the images we create out of our fears. My apologies to anyone who thought I was being critical of nudists. I love clothing optional beaches and have been to them all up and down the California coast. At Black's (in San Diego) i spent all the summers of my teen years. I spent my college years at Pirate's Cove in the San Luis Obispo area.

At every clothing optional beach i've been to, you get onlookers with binocs sitting atop the cliffs looking down. I laugh at them. Poor sexually stunted creatures, peering down and (maybe) masturbating to the sight of naked people lying contentedly in the sun.
