What is important?
I've discovered today that what is important is people. The ones you love. The ones you may just know casually. The ones you may not know at all. In the blink of an eye, they can be gone. Forever.
I've discovered today that life is important and it can so quickly be taken from you.
Oh, I've known all along the importance of these things. But there are things that happen that bring those realizations to the fore and slap you in the face with them.
Reading through the threads tonight, I'm struck by the senslessness of the inane topics being bandied about here. I'm not complaining about them. I know there is a reason they exist. I even participate in them. But tonight everything seems almost pointless.
We all have loved ones, and merely "liked" ones. And ones we just tolerate. Enjoy them while you have them. Don't take their presence in this life for granted.
I apologize for sounding so sappy, but that is the mood I'm in right now and if someone can post about the size of women's clothing, and someone else can post about how much he hates a certain person's appearance, I can post this.
My family lost 2 very kind, loving people last week, although we did not know for sure until today. They were murdered. They were last seen alive 6 days ago as they left church. They were able to cuddle their great-grandchildren on their last day of life, not knowing that it was the last time they would do so. Their son, daughter-in-law and one grandchild saw them that one last time because they happen to attend the same church. The other grandchildren and daughter and son-in-law didn't get that last bit of time with them because they do not attend that church. Today, their son had to identify their bodies.
I guess what I'm trying to say is, make the most of the time you have with your loved ones and even your just-tolerated ones. The next time you take a breath, they may not be with you anymore.
