What is DM and how do I use it?

I need to understand what DM is and how to use it. I expect it's some kind of message, but can't find anything about it or how to use it on the site.

DM (or PM) is Lit's internal private mail system.

Click on the account name in any post and "Start a Conversation."

Alternatively, click on the envelope, top right of this page, same thing.

For anyone else to be able to send you a message, you have to enable it. When I click on your profile name, I see a "start conversation" box, so that means you have enabled the messaging feature here, and you're good to go.
