What is acceptable for a first date ?

I'm about to go on my first date with another girl, amd wondered what i should expect and how i should react, I don't want to seem to keen.

So what advice would you give a newbie like me and how did your first dates go?

Act yourself. If you act anything but then you are starting out on the wrong foot.

You may start out nervous but should find that once you start talking it will become easier.

Alot depends on how well you know this person. If you know them well you will no doubt slip easily in to conversation and not even notice the time fly by.

If you don't know them well, conversation at first will no doubt be awkward but usually smooths out until you find yourself enjoying the person your with.

My first date with a women was always with someone I had just met. Usually we would go to dinner. It would take about a half hour until we got past all the nervousness and then suddenly it was time to go.

Only once was I on a date where we didn't click. We still had dinner and talked but by the end of dinner we both knew it wasn't going to happen again.

I think a lot depends on how you met and what kind of connection you have. Be yourself is the best advice, and if you like her, use eye contact and smile a lot. See if she's doing the same, touches, or is closer than usual to you. It's all personal preference and cultural, but I generally think a hug or kiss on the cheek is a good way to end the first date.

My first date was my college roommate. We had been friends for quite a while and never officially dated before we became lovers. Dating was as simple as two friends doing things together.

All the others I have ever dated were women I just met and usually we had a dinner, talked, shared stories and information and then we decided to either continue or not.

My current partner and I met at a social function, and within minutes I think we both knew what we would have together. I hope yours works this way... because "WOW."

I hope your date was absolutely awesome, you must have been absolutely terrified. I know I sure was my first date with a woman. I'll give you the very very short version of my first date. We'd met on one of those phone chat lines and talked for several hours hit it off very well. Planned to meet for dinner the next night. After the initial 15 minutes or so of nervous chatter we settled right back in to the comfortable conversation like we'd had the night before and we stayed at the restaurant for about 2 hours talking. We just clicked wonderfully. About this time the waitress started looking a little annoyed, so my date asked me back to her place for drinks. I definately didn't want the evening to end (I was 22 at the time, had known for ever that I was bi and was way past due for actually having sex with a woman) She told me that I was more than welcome to crash on her "couch" if I got to drunk to drive, and it was settled, I went back to her place for drinks. We had a couple of beers, and then the next thing I knew she was kissing me and we ended up having sex on the floor of her rec room. Ahhhh, what a great night!
