To add to the confusion, the bottom can also shift. You could have a lesbian boy with a femme "mommy" or a lesbian "Daddy" flipping it around to mirror gay leather Dad/son.

It's about how you see yourself mostly, and about the nuances of how we react to male/female or butch/femme.

Just wanted to add that there's a wonderful short story called "Picking Up Daddy" by Robin Sweeney in the Best American Erotica 1999 book that goes along with this thread. Great story about meeting an on-line Daddy in the flesh. It makes me tingly every time I read it.

My previous relationship was of a Daddy/grrl variety.

While it did not ultimately work out for me, and I found the grrl role not a good fit for me, it was a fascinating experience.

Our relationship was of the nurturing type, and eventually I found that it did not allow for my personal growth. But for those to whom it is a good fit, it can be quite liberating.
