A favorite place for spending time. Also: a place frequented for entertainment or socializing. So saith Merriam Webster's Collegiate Dictionary.

It follows that an Authors' Hangout would be frequented by authors who are seeking entertainment or who wish to socialize.

Notice in the definition of "hangout," that political discussions are not forbidden. Notice also that no particular form of entertainment or socializing is mandated.

So, to all the shrill whiners who don't like political discussions, go to another thread, or start one yourself.

It is not that they don't like political discussions, they love them and have started thousands more than anyone else, but, they only want one kind of political discussion; that which serves the Progressive movement.

The turn-around after the election of hussein obama, caught me by surprise, as others with my political points of view, began expressing their opinions in opposition to the extreme liberal agenda of this administration.

As much if not all of the liberal agenda is emotionally based, abortion, gays, gay marriage, civil rights, ecology, global warming, saving the whales and mousies, it became evident that they could not rationally support those issues and could only retreat to emotional outbursts and name calling.

As I have sympathy and compassion for a child who skins his knees learning to ride a bicycle, I 'feel' for those who believe, deep in their heart of hearts, that every one deserves free medical care; I understand their good intentions and their total faith based belief that they are righteously right in their intentions.

But they remain childlike in their expressions and refusals to contemplate the nature of socialized medicine and all that it entails.

They have an untouchable, 'WE' complex in which they, being the elite intellects, know, that if only they could run things, there would be equality and justice for all.

They continue to be 'Godlike' in their control freak mentality and I doubt anyone or anything can ever change their faith.

Squarejohn, if you have any ideas for the Horny Town project, we'd love to have them!

AMICUS

They loved Black Jesus (Bill Clinton's name for Obama) till he stepped on his pecker every day. With an election debacle looming for Black Jesus even SR71PLT has his head buried in his ass to avoid the angst.

I'm reading a new book about the 2008 election, and its full of surprises about Barry. He's basicially a naif and does as he's told. He's the show powerful elites put on for the simpletons. Think of Barry as a one-man minstrel show to entertain the Usual Suspects. But Pelosi, Reid, Daley, and others make him tow the real line and the real agenda. STELLA senses she's been had (again), and is angry.

They made Barry President so they could steal the US Treasury.

Oboxious: highly objectionable or offensive; odious: obnoxious behavior.
annoying or objectionable due to being a showoff or attracting undue attention to oneself: an obnoxious little brat.

The online world is not really much different from the face to face work. People in the face to face world also seek entertainment and socialize. One real difference is when an obnoxious person is encountered. The immediate reaction is to move away from them or do something to prevent them from disrupting everyone else's fun. This is why every good bar has a good bouncer.

It's plain that the obnoxious person wants to socialize, but lacks the social skills to do so for more than a few seconds. That is also about as long as their entertainment value lasts.

After that, they suffer the consequences of obnoxious behavior. Most people learn this lesson sometime between the ages of 2 and 4. Those who don't are still obnoxious by the time they are old enough to operate a computer. They find a new world where the consequences are not quite as rapid.

No matter how rapid or slow, sooner or later they are standing outside the group they desperately want to be a part of, wondering, "Why won't anyone play with me?"

I've seen people go apeshit cuz another person wished them Merry Christmas! We live in a time when its chic to stack chips on our shoulders, let our Betty Boop panties fly up & down if anyone breathes near us, and try and control everyone with our goofy speech crimes. Its all about numnutz wanting control when they lack the ballz to play in the game.

Do you want to know why I bombed Ami's thread the way I did? Why I really did it?

It wasn't a political topic. He did not create that topic with the intentions of political discussions and debate over the issues of the day. That topic was strictly created to bait emotional responses leading to argument and flame warring. If he wanted to actually discuss the issue he would have titled his topic "Lower Manhattan Muslim Community Center Near Ground Zero." He didn't do that. He titled it "9/11 Mosque Will Not Be Built!" as if 9/11 was a place, as if they were building a mosque on the World Trade Center site itself, as if they were building a mosque at all, as if people were going to stop it, as if it needed to be stopped by the public in the first place, as if it was an important topic for the masses to discuss.

No, if Amicus had started a real topic I would have skimmed over it like I do so many other discussions around here. He didn't start a real topic though. He flame-baited for emotional responses to a non-issue for the world at large. I'm tired of that shit, and I'm calling it out every time I see it from now on, and have a chance to do something about it. I don't want his hatred creating arguments that divide an otherwise friendly community into separate factions warring against each other. It's happened too many times here, and it needs to stop.

In short: Don't act like a fuckwit and I won't fuck your topics up.

HOW NOBLE OF YOU TO PROTECT US FROM AMICUS. All youve accomplished is alert others that what goes around is welcome to come around, and next time it may be your ox gets gored by a fuckwit.

A man states his opinion and you use it to justify your behavior.

Internet oxen are easy to come by, just like internet threats.

The issue is really, WHO GETS TO DECIDE WHAZZUP, and I sez it aint you.

The sad part is they aren't even political threads. They're stupid rants from primitives stuck at the "Ug must bash Thog, because Thog different!" phase of human evolution.

Economy in the toilet, mass joblessness...and you're worried about a mosque in New York. Nice priorities ;)

Many here cant make a coherent story much less a coherent argument.

Thee, we all know all of this. Ami knows it, squarejohn knows it, everyone who sees the title knows it. But being truthful and sincere is a bad move around here, as I know all too well. All you get is an excuse for the pigshitters to aim their anuses in your direction.

You won't get anywhere by "calling out his hatred." It hasn't worked on the Westboro baptist Church, and that's "real" life. Hatred is considered an American Value these days.

The only recourse is to derail his threads with laughter,

http://vvoice.vmes-pop-culture-party-][/QUOTE] It's a nice effort, but its really difficult to top their efforts at humor. At any moment, Ami will rally suburbanites to sack and pillage the the cities and JB will manufacture another college degree. How can it get funnier?

There was really no reason to attack Ami's thread other than meanness or, perhaps, you wish to appear more erudite than he. The result is that you make yourself appear foolish.
