What interesting research have you carried out relating to recent stories you have written, or are writing?

A lot of Gwynevere and Lilith, although on the latter it's more recent development rather than traditional. Leaving out the baby stealing and eating. For a novel I am working very very very slowly on.

For the next few years, most movies were little more than filmed stage plays.
The Marx Brothers' first two movies, The Cocoanuts and Animal Crackers, were basically filmed versions of plays they did on stage. In fact, when they were doing Animal Crackers on Broadway, their off hours were mostly consumed shooting The Cocoanuts on a soundstage in Long Island City.

However, Harpo did manage to get in a little poker. There was a place about a block and a half from the theater. He could literally leave the game, walk the block and a half, hurry in the stage door, throw his costume on, and hit the stage right on cue.

Except one night. There was a red light.

Now, the Animal Crackers script calls for Harpo's character, The Professor, to be announced and make his entrance. Margaret Dumont's character says "Take the Professor's hat and coat"

Groucho's Captain Spaulding says "And send for the fumigators."

They whip The Professor's hat and coat off and he's standing there in his underwear. Everyone looks shocked.

This particular evening, as I said, Harpo hit a red light. He hurried to the theater, threw his costume on, and hit the stage right on cue. Dumont said her line, Groucho said his line, they whipped his hat and coat off...and he was standing there in his jockstrap. Everyone looked shocked, but they were supposed to look shocked. Harpo didn't know anything was wrong until Groucho wandered to center stage and said "Tomorrow he's not wearing anything, so get your tickets early."

For my "crime and punishment" prose I researched several items in order to make sure I was accurate in my description. My gut punches are based on fact.

The other night I went to look up the duty dates and HQ assignments for 4th Ranger Battalion for information on the dead husband of a minor character. 4 hours later I decided it had 300x more information than I needed and went to write the 3 sentences about his uniform and campaign ribbons. I fell asleep in the middle of the second sentence… 🤦‍♂️

Been looking up dates of England losing various football matches, for the Crime/Punishment event. And locations of post-Pride celebrations over the years.

I spent some time researching the various kinds of yoga and how they relate to training for certain sports.
That's a great premise for erotic stories (I'm assuming this is for an erotic story) that I hadn't thought of; there's SO many directions you can go with this, especially if you can intertwine it with Tantric stuff, etc.
