I get my inspirations from many, many different places..so I am curious, how do ya'll get inspred to write a piece of erotic fiction?

I like to people watch. I enjoy sitting at the airport and watching people greeting one another or sending someone off on a trip. Just watching people's actions/reactions makes me wonder what's behind it or led up to it.

I'm also inspired by fantasies I have. Things that might happen to me, but haven't yet. And some that will never happen, but receive life when I sit down to the computer.

Sometimes art or music, but mostly just people and what I don't know about them. Their lives always seem more intriguing and noteworthy than my own.

For Lit. I chose a specific location, genre and character and used the sex as a way of writing something new. I just decide to write, generally am not inspired by anything outside myself.

The other two stories I wrote for a contest and for a chain story thread, then I did some Snippettsville pieces. All written to order (though the Snipps were a special collaboration).

For erotica (which I don't write that much of) I usually start with either a fantasy or some snippet of an idea that gets in my head. For more mainstream stuff that's actually going to be published I get my ideas from authors that have inspired me or subjects that fascinate me. I usually have to think about it for some time before something hits me.

I get a lot of my ideas from readers' suggestions and I often offer to write a story specifically about someone who sends me feedback. Twice now, I have been inspired by the AV's of women on AH and have written stories based on that. I would never do such a thing, however, without the approval of the woman. I find it easier to write about a real person like that and it helps me establish a scenario.

Well ok.. perhaps not .. but a devil of a man I know who lives interstate started sending me juicy erotic stories... so I just HAD to do something in return.... I was surprised by the response I received from him... shared them with a few others.. got more good responses.. then someone pointed me in the direction of Literotica... now I have three stories awaiting approval and am considering writing more.....

Intriguing question. I'd say it was mostly past experiences, either real, fantasy, or derived from something I watched/listened to/or read.

But it depends.

A friend of mine talks a lot about the cacophony in her head of various characters demanding to have their stories told. Sometimes, I know exactly what she means. Now, if I I could manage to get the stories down on paper or 'puter...<g>

Practically anything can inspire me. A song, a picture, a story. twopeople arguing at the grocery store, even an antique if I start to wonder what it might have seen in its day. the only thing I need for inspiration is something that stirs my imagination in some way. Even a video game can do it. My muse is mercurial and what she decides is worthy of a story often surprises even me

Recently, three words from a Paul Simon song. Previously, happening to be in the mood when asked. Before that "Let's write something together." Originally, 'I could write better stuff than this.'

Mine usually starts with one very insignificant thought or item, and it builds from there. The simplest inspiration I've ever had came from looking at a tape recorder.

Most of what I write is centered on emotion. Things like love, hate, anger, etc. are universal. There is no social or cultural divide when it comes to these things. It is something that everyone can relate to.

I can never tell from what or where a story will come from.

I don't know about the rest of you, but me, I've always got thoughts rattling around in my head.

If I'm sitting on the can I'll be thinking about Sun Tzu's Art of War and how it relates to the frequent failure of the US military since the end of WWII.

I'm washing dishes and I'm wondering 'What ever happened to Don Maclean?"

I'm sitting in a bar observing a bunch of suits and I try to figure out how much of their interaction is bonding and how much is competition.

All these thoughts rattle around in my head and eventually, two or three of the bond and the outline of a story or essay flashes into my mind.

Then comes the hard part, getting it down on paper or into my machine.

So I can't really say where my inspiration comes from. Or, after reading my post, maybe I do.

What inspires me can be anything. Such as the curve of a woman neck or what she's wearing. Maybe a sun set or a pretty day. Sometime's it some story that I heard. it can just be about anything. A missed love or one thats gone wrong.

All sorts of things can be inspiratons for me. I wrote two stories inspired by the AV's of women on AH. I was inspired once when someone said that a story should never include the words "Wake up, sleepyhead". Probably the majority of my stories were written about women readers. I have a story in progress right now that was suggested by a reader. I wrote one story inspired by discussion of beastiality vs. sex with mythical beasts.
