What happened to my short story?

I posted a short story two weeks ago entitled "Laurel." The story is romantic, and so non erotic that the protagonist and his love interest, Laurel, do not even touch each other. My story has not been posted yet. How can I tell if and why it was rejected, if it was rejected? I may have submitted it incorrectly. I do not want to submit it again until I know what happened to it. Is more than two weeks a reasonable time to wait?

Your timing was unfortunate. The "forum side" of the site just switched over from Vbulletin to XenForo, and it entailed some really substantial changes. There were an awful lot of issues getting everything set up, and Laurel (the site manager and co-owner, who handles all new submissions) has been deluged with PMs. Normally, your story would take just a few days to get approved and posted. Unfortunately, right now there isn't much you can do besides wait, and perhaps put some information into your profile and an avatar so you don't look like a blank alt.

I wish I could tell you something useful that you could do, but at this point there are a lot of authors who can do nothing but wait. Good luck!

Is it listed as Pending on your works page? If not, it's not in process and either you didn't really get it submitted or it's gone off the rails. This frequently turns out to be the case of those waiting two weeks and asking on the discussion board. That's the first place to check. If it's listed as Pending and it's been two weeks, an internal message (they seem to be called conversations now--the envelop at the top right of this page when you're logged in--rather than PM) to laurel asking for a status on it would be appropriate. We're all stumbling around, because the Web site hasn't been too newsy about maneuvering the new system.

How can I find my works page?

Sign in on the story side to your control panel and you have options, including "Home" (showing the ongoing activity on your story file) and "Works," showing how your stories are performing. At the top of the "Works" page will be menus, including "Drafts," "Pending," and "Sent Back." If your story is genuinely in process to post, it will be listed under "Pending." If you mistakenly sent it to "Drafts" and it's listed there, you haven't submitted it yet. If you find it listed under "Sent Back," it's been rejected and a hazily worded explanation on why (which is just a manual program's opinion, not that of human scrutiny) it hasn't been accepted. If it doesn't appear on any of this lists, it hasn't actually been submitted, so the editor has no knowledge of its existence.

This stumbling around process, especially for new authors, in the face of little clear help from the Web site, isn't Literotica's most endearing aspect, but most soon get the hang of it.

I found Home, but not Works.

Lexx, Laurel has been hard at work publishing stories as it's Manu that handles the software. Stories have been posting every day through out this upgrade of the forums.

As for the OP, once you login on the story side of the site, in the top right corner there should be, if you set it up, your avatar or a letter which should be a J in your case. the little arrow next to the avatar, click on it, the third item in the list is Works, click it. Just under Published Stories there are four tabs, Published, Drafts, Pending, Sent Back. Each has number in front of them. If Pending is 0 then you didn't finish the submission. If Drafts is also 0 then something has gone wrong unless Sent Back has a number other than 0 in front of it.

If Sent Back as a number other than 0 click on it and it will tell you what went wrong.
If Draft is other than 0 then you didn't really finish submitting the story.
If Pending is greater than 0 then something is wrong and you could send IM/Conversation to Laurel.

Oh, I'm aware Laurel is still busily accepting, sorting and posting stories. My point was that she's been slammed with PMs as a result of the XF rollout here, and isn't answering PMs the way she normally would. Ordinarily, yes, you'd send a PM to her to inquire about the delay in processing your story. I was pointing out that such a PM likely will go unanswered right now.
