*** If you don't like whiney rants, then close now!!! ***

The whole line being: "If you don't have anything nice to say, then don't say anything at all." Perhaps 'thoughtful' is a better word than 'nice'. Regardless, sometimes silence is golden. And while I love the potential to speak one's mind on the internet, it also turns people into jackasses, when they're otherwise genuinely nice people.

I dunno. But after dropping by some chat rooms, and perusing some threads here, I see a lot of half-thought out responses, myself included.

Am I alone in thinking people are becoming more idiotic? Or in getting older am I now just realizing people have been and always will be idiots?

I try to watch what I say to people online as I do in real..

But I'm sure I have my moments when I come across as snide and/or mean. If someone really annoys me I ignore and walk off of a thread while biting my tongue.

Oh and I think we've always been idiots. :)

It's because all of the weirdos whom you'd never talk to in real life are on the internet, where social skills aren't required.

I just wish every argument didn't turn into "If you disagree, you are a moron"...in real life, most of these people who get all furious might be stifled? Maybe they feel bad about RL and vent online? If someone in RL talked to me the way they do online, some of them would beaten to a pulp. Anonymity makes some people feel powerful, I guess.

This whole concept is why you won't see me posting to many of the threads here. Gram would be so proud. ;) If she only knew the thoughts running through my head though...I'd be bound for hell for sure!

There's a place for that here, flawed ethics. It's called The Playground. There everything's all hearts and flowers and everyone's supportive and loves everyone else.

The GB's a little different. Here it's a personal option instead of a mandate. If an individual chooses to be so, they can be. If someone chooses to speak their thoughts instead, they can do so and be slammed for it.

you should let her out more often

I get in touch with my inner bitch at least once a month.

I have found that be extending that inner bitch time by a day or two every month, I've gotten to the point she pretty much runs the show.
