Because It Worked So Well For Stalin...

Five-year plans in the Land of the Free? Apparently it’s not that far off from reality. Yesterday Senator Tom Harkin introduced S. 544, “a bill to require the President to develop a comprehensive national manufacturing strategy.” In effect, Senator Harkin wants the President to centrally plan the economy. Never mind that the President has zero experience in business or manufacturing. But hey, this worked out so well for Stalinist Russia, it’s no wonder Mr. Harkin wants to copy that model... The trend is clear. Every single day the political elite gives us even more evidence that they’re working overtime to destroy the economy and what few remaining civil liberties still exist.

As predicted, Obama care would be a bureaucratic nightmare as the government puts itself upon the civil society. One wonders how many government minions will have to be hired so that folks like Zumi can fill out his forms and get care:

AP Exclusive: Applying for health care not easy
By RICARDO ALONSO-ZALDIVAR | Associated Press – 3 hrs ago

WASHINGTON (AP) — Applying for benefits under President Barack Obama's health care overhaul could be as daunting as doing your taxes.
The government's draft application is now on the Internet.

It runs 15 pages for a three-person family. The online version has 21 steps, some with added questions.

At least three major federal agencies, including the IRS, will scrutinize your application.

That's just the first part of the process, which lets you know if you qualify for financial help.

You'd still have to pick a health plan.

Some fear that consumers will be overwhelmed and give up. Administration officials say the application form is being refined.

Still, the idea that picking a health insurance plan could be as simple as shopping on the Internet is starting to look like wishful thinking.

When is a 15 page application NOT a 15 page application?

Hmmm....a one-income family with kids who do NOT have part-time jobs?
It seems that 15-pager becomes....*drum roll*....a whopping FOUR page application:

1 page for basic contact information....
2 pages of income information....
1 page to document any current health insurance..

Now, granted, that's probably too much for the Vettebigot to handle, but remember he hasn't worked since the 1990s so the middle pages won't be too difficult for him.

Harken is a Stalinist so he'll be right at home with Soviet style 5 year plans.

Okay, so if we understand you correctly, people that disagree with your puerile personal philosophy on Wednesdays are by definition "Marxists", but if they disagree with you on Thursdays they're "Stalinists".

Anyone care to make a wager on what Vetty's "smear du jour" will be for Friday?

Derp.

one must ask, why is the Dow at a all time high? What is supporting this? Who is getting wealthy?

Pretty much going to say the only two demographics improving/growing would be the 1% ers and the welfare class.

Meaning the 1% is making a ton more money and the Welfare class is growing to include more American's.

Question is, has there been another time in history when more people moved under the poverty level?

Granted what Obama wants to do is increase the entitlement payments as obama isn't smart enough to see the real issue / solution. America needs jobs, and obama isn't able to grasp this simple concept (then again, most people in government are unable to realize this)

If Dow high, Obama blows. If Dow low, Obama blows. CNBC needs your kind of brilliance.

Obama Mocks Freshman House Democrat For Asking Him About Job Creation…

Obama acting like a jerk? Shocker.

Via Roll Call:

Michigan Democratic Rep. Dan Kildee has been in Congress for a little more than two months, and today the leader of the free world gave him a gentle ribbing about just how new he is to Capitol Hill.

At a closed-door meeting between President Barack Obama and House Democrats, Kildee introduced himself as a freshman, to which Obama said, “Wow, you’re really classing up the place then.”

Kildee then proceeded to ask what one person described as a somewhat “long-winded” question about the importance of creating jobs for his economically distraught district.

“I can tell you’re a freshman because you didn’t pay much attention to the State of the Union,” Obama joked. “I talked about that.”

Amid the resulting laughter, House Democratic Caucus Chairman Xavier Becerra of California then offered to provide Kildee a printout of the speech.

Obama was referring to his $1 billion proposal for 15 manufacturing “innovation centers,” the details of which are still somewhat hazy.

Actually, though, the joke was on Obama: On Wednesday, Kildee had met with the White House legislative affairs team about the innovation centers proposal, so he was quite familiar with it.

And his question was broader, about what types of reforms are necessary to reform decaying urban centers like Flint, Mich., which Kildee represents.

“Dan wasn’t specifically talking about innovation centers in his question,” a spokesman said.

I know, the NIGGERZ will say

Whats $63? Its less then half an expensive dinner fro the FAT CATS

Yes, NIGGERZ, we get it

The “Affordable” Care Act strikes again.

Employers are bracing for a little-noticed fee in the federal health-care law that will charge them $63 for each person they insure next year, one of the clearest cost increases companies face when the law takes full effect.

Companies and other plan providers will together pay $25 billion over three years to create a fund for insurance companies to offset the cost of covering people with high medical bills.

The fees will hit most large U.S. employers, and several have been lobbying to change the program, contending the levy is unfair because it subsidizes individually purchased plans that won’t cover their workers. Boeing Co. and a union health plan covering retirees of General Motors, Ford Motor Co. and Chrysler, among other groups, have asked federal regulators to exclude or shield their insurance recipients from the fee.

Insurance companies, which helped put the fee in the law, say the fee is essential to prevent rates from skyrocketing when insurers get an influx of unhealthy customers next year. The fee is part of a new insurance landscape created by the health law that will forbid insurers from denying coverage to people with pre-existing conditions.

Boeing figures the fee will cost them $25 million in 2014.

This was one of those “have to pass the law to find out what’s in it” surprises that was buried so deep in this monstrosity that most of the companies that will be affected by it didn’t notice it at first. It’s not too hard to figure out where large companies that are going to be forced to spend tens of millions extra next year are going to get that money. OK, it is hard to figure out for those in Progressive fantasy land, where all money falls from a magic tree in space.

One thing I will say about the ACA: it doesn’t discriminate. It wants everyone in business to go broke, big or small.

Four more years

Might be hard for him to understand the job issue. Did he ever have a real job?
