What Obamacare did for me

I thought it would be great, free health insurance, then I got a job. Boss says 28 hours a week is all they are offering now because over 30 requires insurance. Great, 30% pay cut right off the bat. But it gets better. My 28 hour week gives me about $18,000 a year which is too much for any government insurance. So now by law I have to buy my own ($5000) or pay a fine. I’m f**ked and every year the fine goes up. So what I thought was a sweet deal turned into an a** f**king. Thanks Obama, I wonder how many people like me turn 27 and find out you screwed us?

If the guy buys an insurance plan off an exchange he will be eligible for a federal subsidy as long as he makes less than 400% of the federal poverty rate, or about $44,500 if he's single. If he's got a family of four then he just needs to make under $92k per year to qualify for the subsidy.

According to the federal subsidy calculator the Cragislist dude is eligible to have 77% of his annual health care paid for by an Obamacare subsidy and pay only $770 per year. Or he can pay the $5000 fine just to not have health coverage and continue to act like a big whiny victim. In case he has that family of four he's eligible for Medicaid and pay nothing aside from co-payments if his state requires them.

Also dude can get another job if he doesn't like the terms of the one he has.

Report: U.S. Debt Headed Toward 200 Percent Of GDP Even After Fiscal Cliff Deal…

The nation’s long-term fiscal outlook hasn’t significantly improved following the recent agreement between Congress and the White House over tax and spending issues, according to a new analysis.

The “fiscal cliff” deal combined with the debt-limit agreement of August 2011 only slightly delays the United States reaching debt-to-gross domestic product levels that would damage the economy and risk another fiscal crisis, according to the a report from the Peter G. Peterson Foundation released on Tuesday.

The agreement “may have prevented the immediate threats that the fiscal cliff posed to our fragile economic recovery, but we haven’t remotely fixed the nation’s debt problem,” said Michael A. Peterson, president and COO of the Peterson Foundation.

“The primary goal of any sustainable fiscal policy is to stabilize the debt as a share of the economy and put it on a downward path, and yet our nation is still heading toward debt levels of 200 percent of GDP and beyond,” he said.

The report concludes that the recent round of deficit-reduction measures won’t make major improvements because it fails to address most of the major contributors to the debt and deficit, including rapidly rising healthcare costs.

The analysis suggests that lawmakers take action quickly to ensure that the nation is on a sustainable fiscal path

Dems Tout Claim: 'Best-Looking Contraction in U.S. GDP You'll Ever See'

In response to the news today that the economy contracted -.1 percent in the final quarter of last year, Democrats are touting the claim that this is "the best-looking contraction in U.S. GDP you'll ever see." The claim was originally made by chief U.S. economist for Capital Economics Paul Ashworth.

"The drag from defense spending and inventories is a one-off. The rest of the report is all encouraging," Ashworth also claimed.

The claim was quickly seized upon by Democrats, looking to share good news about a contracting economy.

Democratic party communications director Brad Woodhouse quickly began spreading the word on Twitter:
