Obama Pushing Same Type Of Mortgages That Previously Contributed to Crisis

What could go wrong?

Via Investor’s Business Daily:

Despite new evidence the Community Reinvestment Act led to riskier lending and played a key role in the subprime mortgage crisis, the Obama administration is broadening the anti-redlining regulation’s authority and scope, spooking bankers.

A recent study by the National Bureau of Economic Research, the nation’s pre-eminent economic research group, states that the CRA “clearly” had a major impact on the flood of subprime loans made in the late 1990s and 2000s, which directly led to the housing crisis.

LAWLESS THUG!

Obama Continues To Violate Stimulus Law By Not Filing Quarterly Reports

Is it possible the reason he hasn’t filed any reports since 2011 is because things aren’t going very well for the “stimulus”? Perish the thought!

You don't need reports prepared by a government functionary to know what's going on in the economy... well, maybe you do, but I don't.

I hope whoever was supposed to do those reports got laid off. Along with the 45,000 contractors at the Pentagon that are getting the axe. We have way too many government functionaries.

Obama Administration Proposes Slashing Health Care Benefits for Military

Congress won’t let him get away with this, but it is indicative of how seriously the administration is out to corral as many people as possible and put them in Obamacare insurance exchanges.

The 2013 defense budget will force active duty and retired military to pay more for their health insurance. Gallingly, unionized civilian defense workers will not suffer the same fate.

Washington Free Beacon:

The proposal is causing a major rift within the Pentagon, according to U.S. officials. Several congressional aides suggested the move is designed to increase the enrollment in Obamacare’s state-run insurance exchanges.

The disparity in treatment between civilian and uniformed personnel is causing a backlash within the military that could undermine recruitment and retention.

The proposed increases in health care payments by service members, which must be approved by Congress, are part of the Pentagon’s $487 billion cut in spending. It seeks to save $1.8 billion from the Tricare medical system in the fiscal 2013 budget, and $12.9 billion by 2017.

Many in Congress are opposing the proposed changes, which would require the passage of new legislation before being put in place.

“We shouldn’t ask our military to pay our bills when we aren’t willing to impose a similar hardship on the rest of the population,” Rep. Howard “Buck” McKeon, chairman of the House Armed Services Committee and a Republican from California, said in a statement to the Washington Free Beacon. “We can’t keep asking those who have given so much to give that much more.”

Administration officials told Congress that one goal of the increased fees is to force military retirees to reduce their involvement in Tricare and eventually opt out of the program in favor of alternatives established by the 2010 Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, aka Obamacare.

Just how much more does the administration want our retired and active duty soldiers to pay?

Under the new plan, the Pentagon would get the bulk of its savings by targeting under-65 and Medicare-eligible military retirees through a tiered increase in annual Tricare premiums that will be based on yearly retirement pay.

Significantly, the plan calls for increases between 30 percent to 78 percent in Tricare annual premiums for the first year. After that, the plan will impose five-year increases ranging from 94 percent to 345 percent—more than 3 times current levels.

According to congressional assessments, a retired Army colonel with a family currently paying $460 a year for health care will pay $2,048.

The new plan hits active duty personnel by increasing co-payments for pharmaceuticals and eliminating incentives for using generic drugs.

Not very subtle, are they?

As the 2014 date approaches when Obamacare will be implemented, the administration may be worried that not enough new insureds will be added to the pool, thus continuing to drive the cost of health care through the roof. Forcing a couple of million retirees and active duty military to abandon Tricare for Obamacare or Medicare is one card they can play.

Good. We can't afford that either.

I wasn't responding to that part

wazza matter, Plastic Pete stood you up tonight?

Active duty military members pay $0 for health care. Zero fees, zero copayments, zero for prescription drugs. These young Airmen I work with will go and have three kids in five years all on the taxpayer dollar never paying a cent. If they can afford to get wasted at bars three nights per week then why can't they pay a $5 copayment when they want a 6-day supply of ibuprofin. Yeap that's right, most over-the-counter drugs are available to them by prescription for free so they don't have to buy them at the store.

As far as retirees under 65, none of them are going to ditch Tricare for a private plan bought on an excange because their Tricare plan is government subsidized and will alway be cheaper.

That's one of the worst articles I've ever read.

Study: HHS adds $9.1 billion in new regs in January

The Department of Health and Human Services passed three new rules over the course of just four days, adding $9.1 billion of regulatory burden during the first month of the new year, a new report claims.

According to a study by the American Action Forum released Friday morning, the new regulations will “account for 797 pages, $9.1 billion in new costs, and 10.6 million additional paperwork burden hours.”

One of the major costs came from the expansion of Medicaid, the State Children’s Health Insurance Program, and the state-based health insurance exchange programs, all mandated under the Affordable Care Act. The total price tag is $2.6 billion with a paperwork burden of 518,432 hours. HHS only allowed 17 working days to submit comment on the nearly 500-page overhaul of Medicaid and SCHIP programs.

The other two rules come from the Food and Drug Administration. One rule is to create standards for harvesting and holding produce for humans to consume is expected to cost $3.2 billion over a seven year period andg 1.3 million in paperwork hours.

The last regulation is to standardize and modernize manufacturing practices and analysis for hazardous food, which will cost between $2.2 billion to $3.3 billion over a seven-year period, adding 8.8 billion hours of paperwork burden.

Combined, these two FDA rules will add “10.1 million additional paperwork burden hours that would require 5,005 employees dedicated solely to red tape compliance

Obama to Kill Jobs Council

by Breitbart News 27 Jan 2013, 2:18 PM PDT 12 post a comment

Now that President Obama has been re-elected, the vaunted jobs council is about to meet its demise.

The Obama administration’s original announcement of a jobs council back in 2011 surprised few observers of the partisan political scene; the council was obviously designed as a fig leaf to cover up the administration’s complete lack of direction on economic policy. During its two year existence, that fig leaf council has met just four times formally, and just 18 times informally for “listening and action sessions” – i.e. gobbledygook – in different locations around the country. And while President Obama has suggested that the council is a “work council,” making proposals the administration took seriously, the facts belie those glowing words. Jay Carney even told the press last year that Obama didn’t really care about the jobs council:

There’s no specific reason [he hasn’t met with the jobs council], except the president has obviously got a lot on his plate. But he continues to solicit and receive advice from numerous folks outside the administration about the economy, about ideas that he can act on with Congress or administratively to help the economy grow and help create jobs.

A White House aide tells The Hill today that the jobs council “was only intended” to last for two years. Obama is reportedly irked by the fact that the jobs council has recommended lifting regulations rather than creating new ones. Since the American people obviously did not hold Obama accountable for his economic failures as president, he is now going to focus on other issues: climate change, gun control, abortion, and immigration.

Protesters demand better health care from Michelle Obama’s former employer

Posted at 4:42 pm on January 27, 2013 by Twitchy Staff | View Comments

Protesters are gathering today outside the University of Chicago’s new hospital building to demand a trauma center for adult residents who live in the neighborhood near the hospital. They accuse the University of ignoring the needs of low-income minorities who live in Chicago’s south side. Police have been called in, and at least four arrests have reportedly been made.

The University says it has good reasons not to re-open its adult trauma center. At the same time, there is truth in the protesters’ claim that the University has attempted to exclude low-income and uninsured patients.

That effort, which went under the banner of “Urban Health Initiative,” was spearheaded by none other than First Lady Michelle Obama, who was the hospital’s vice president for community and external affairs at the time. She was generously compensated for her efforts.

The American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) blasted Mrs. Obama’s program, expressing “grave concerns that the University of Chicago’s policy toward emergency patients is dangerously close to ‘patient dumping.’”

As Twitchy’s Michelle Malkin wrote in her book, Culture of Corruption: “Favoring the wealthy over the poor while posing as guardians of the downtrodden? Hey, it’s the Chicago way.”

You will pretend NOT TO KNOW, that it was she, while getting a few hundred thousand dollar salary, that advised the hospital NOT TO TREAT PEOPLE WITHOUT INSURANCE AND TO THROW EM OUT!

A recent article by Dana Milbank in the Washington Post notes that the same Republican dominated House that now critiques events in Libya cut State Department operations by $300 million in 2009 and eliminated funds for some 30 more security positions along with it. The House cut security funding by $128 million in FY2011 and $331 million in FY2012, although the Senate restored $88 million. Under at least one of Congressman Ryan’s proposals to amend the budget, State Department funding would be cut by an additional 20% million in 2014 – which means another $400 million cut in security.

Not surprising. The Republican legislators are all bark, no bite. The GOP continues to implode while their legislators continue to legislate abortions and whine about contraception coverage, among other things. They're stuck in a time warp and refuse to change.

The Jobs Council's task was to meet and come up with recommendations. It did that. Why are you whining?

Obama is reportedly irked by the fact that the jobs council has recommended lifting regulations rather than creating new ones.

Who is reporting that? Especially since the council did not recommend lifting any regulations. You're lying again.

Hillary: “Not Enough Money For Security in Benghazi”. But Plenty For Kindles, Art, Mosque Building, Etc…

Mosque rebuilding and kindles are more important than protecting four Americans obviously.

Via Frontpage:

According to Hillary Clinton’s long-delayed Benghazigate testimony, the State Department just did not have enough money to provide security for a mission in one of the most dangerous places in the world.

It did however have 16 million dollars to spend on 2,500 kindle book readers at the drastically inflated price of $6,600 per device.

How much security could that 16 million buy?

It had $79,000 to spend on Obama’s books and $20,000 on a portrait of Obama. The US Embassy had $150,000 to spend on a book about the ambassador’s residence. The US Embassy in Austria had $150,000+ for a Chevy Volt and its charging station.

And here is what else Hillary’s State Department did have money for…

7.9 billion dollars for Obama’s Global Health Initiative.

1 billion for global climate change.

2.2 billion to strengthen democratic institutions in Pakistan.

And of course… Mosque renovations.

In 2011 the State Department provided funds to restore the 15th century Gobarau Minaret in Katsina State in Nigeria’s predominantly Muslim north, an area which has become a virtual killing field for Christians at the hands of Muslim militants, led by the al-Qaeda-linked terror group Boko Haram.

And $4.5 million for Art in Embassies

The New York Times reported in 2009 that Art in Embassies spends about $4.5 million a year for permanent art acquisitions; chief curator Virginia Shore said at the time that artists and dealers support the program via favorable pricing; for the embassy in Beijing, an outlay of $800,000 yielded works with an appraised value of $30 million.

How much Benghazi security would 800,000 dollars have bought? If Hillary Clinton had stopped buying paintings, maybe four Americans would still be alive today.

The State Department also has a Chief Diversity Officer, whose job it is to warn that “holding the fort” is a racist phrase.

As far as security goes, 200 million dollars were wasted on Iraqi police training that never went anywhere.

And nothing says State Department waste, like waste management.

The U.S. Department of State and partners from the LAUNCH: Beyond Waste Forum announce a challenge to identify ten game-changing innovations with the potential to transform current waste management systems and practices. LAUNCH: Beyond Waste seeks transformational solutions to the problem of waste through disruptive innovation, behavioral change, systems design, as well as improved policy and stewardship.

The challenge, which will be open from April 1 to May 15, 2012, asks creative minds to formulate innovative ideas for minimizing waste or transforming it into new products.

Nope, no waste to see here.

The State Department just had no money in its 50 billion dollar budget to pay for Benghazi security. None at all.
