And after waiting in mile long gas rationing lines you were still to damn stupid to make a serious, I don't care what it costs get it done, effort to get off of oil.

People do care what it costs. Stop proving you are stupid.

again, you miss the point.

Let me help you with this thought, if government had invented and controlled the auto industry, well we would still be driving model T cars

every industry, every enterprise, ever thing needs competition

except when it comes to military, police, and fire depts

During the Carter years we sat in mile long gas rationing lines and endured 14.8% inflation rates and 18% interest rates.

if I had time, I would love to see interest rates before Carter and after Carter

days like today, I miss Terd and all his charts

How do you figure that? Government invented and owned the space industry and while you might make a point it's moving slower than in might it's progressing.

Competition isn't magic and there are plenty of places where it's not the best method for any number of reasons.

Then they deserve the consequences of their actions don't they?

Those in Government need to be held accountable for his or her actions. Hell, management in the GSA needs an audit and held accountable. Many, should be put in jail for 90 days

Fuck you, they CRUCIFIED him with it.

The Democrats used his going back on his tax promise just as the GOP would have if the roles had been reversed.

But his reversal was first widely used by Pat Buchanan in the Republican Primaries. Hell even Gingrich and Dan Fucking Quayle came out against his reversal. His own Vice President..

Since you quoted Wiki earlier, why leave out this part?

On the day he (Pat Buchanan) entered the race, he said it was "because we Republicans, can no longer say it is all the liberals' fault. It was not some liberal Democrat who said 'Read my lips: no new taxes,' then broke his word to cut a seedy backroom budget deal with the big spenders on Capitol Hill." Buchanan subsequently made extensive use of the 1988 quotation in his New Hampshire campaign, repeating it constantly in both television and radio commercials. Buchanan won a surprising 40% of the vote in New Hampshire, a major rebuff to the President.

This will be entertaining, where doesn't competition work? Please explain, I'm listening

wow, are you saying that ALL politicians are slimy and dirty? If you are, nice to see some personal growth on your part. How does it feel?

Fine.

Lets start with any basic utility. Water, power, sewage come immediately to mind. Power maybe someday but the other two are simply impossible to even allow competitors in for the simple reason of limited space. It doesn't work. Garbage collection's the same way but because you really can't trust people to take out their own garbage.

Education seems to make the list as well. Ever wondered why Harvard or Yale have never franchised out? Why they aren't competing price wise? They decided long ago that smart money was to limit the supply and jack up the price. We don't see a whole lot of new colleges popping up each year advertising there new low prices either.

Medicine seems to be on the list as well for other reasons. Turns out it drives people to hyperspecialize in something stupid. Oh well, that's the risk we run.

To be honest anything that requires creative minds and not hard workers is only minimally if at all helped by competition.

Holy crap, I didn't even notice. And yesterday I was saying to myself we're a little over a hundred in. I need to make sure I remember so I can snipe the fuck out of that slot, and the one right after it.

Power, best in the private sector.
Water and sewer, I will give you that one.
Garbage - private sector
ALL MEDICAL should NEVER be in government "control"
Education should be opened up to the private sector and watch the costs DROP. Cut all government funding and you will be amazed

Power simply isn't better in the private sector for a number of reasons. The first being that private companies are driven to *gasp* operate at maximum efficiency which actually means to run as close to maximum capacity as they can. Not create an excess of energy. They also aren't big on R&D because well it costs money.

Garbage, private sector, would never work. It simply wouldn't.

I didn't say all medical, but a healthy chunk. Is there a country where all medical is in government control? Possibly Cuba, haven't looked to heavily there. Everywhere else seems to offer private insurance and have private practices. People don't use them very often because people would rather wait six months for reduced costs than get it now at a premium but that's not because of the government.

There are already private schools. If you can afford it that's where you send your kids but eliminating the public school system would be a disaster.

again, you missed the point as I'm thinking at least 80% of Power and Garbage is private sector. aka it does work and is better that way. Gainsville charges customers more than FPL.

Schools k-12 time to give that over to the private sector as "Government" as fucked this one up. time for government to surrender and give control to professional and skilled workers

Cuba is a fucked country as is Venezuela.

Welcome to reality

I doubt there is any significant amount of garbage collected by the private sector. Oh, road building and upkeep. Hell if we were smart instead of doing what we do and looking for the cheapest way to build our roads and stuff we'd look for the BEST way to build our roads n stuff.

Time for us to actually invest in our schools, and they do have professionals already. Nice edit there.

General landscaping, land preservation.

yeah Waste Management is a little mom and pop company

Government doesn't build the road, nor does Obama.

0 for 2, wanna try again?

whoopsie I didn't see your school comment. We are spending more money then ever before and those in education are still fucking up on so many levels. what is the "school" year based on? 1800's? Why are so many kids dropping or failing from school? Yet we are spending how much per kid?

Also, why are they still using books?

so you are now 0 for 3
