Credit Upgraded Back To AAA …

While the United States credit rating with Standard & Poor’s may have been downgraded recently, Florida’s jumped from AA+ to AAA.

S&P upgraded Florida in July, and the improved credit rating means better interest rates for the state. So Florida took advantage of that and refinanced some of its old bonds, thereby saving millions of dollars. Since July Florida has refinanced $1.5 billion in bonds, totaling $135 million in savings for the state.

“We went through, got lower pricing, because a triple A bond rating can give us that. In this marketplace, there aren’t many of us out there who have that rating,” says Chief Financial Officer Jeff Atwater.

Tax reductions and state budget cuts were the keys to Governor Rick Scott convincing S&P to upgrade Florida’s credit rating.

“When we have the Country Music Awards, we sometimes see a lot of them,” she said, noting that Kid Rock, David Lee Roth and Kenny Rogers also have owned them.

Obama’s new ride is equipped to carry all the baggage a president needs — including the “football” that allows him to remotely control US nuclear weapons.

There’s electronic equipment allowing Obama to communicate and teleconference worldwide.

Like his GM-built limousine, nicknamed “The Beast,” the bus has armored doors.

The president also has large flat-screen TV sets and comfortable couches.

Yet, over just the last few days, you’ve blamed the dismal economy and jobs numbers on ”factions” in Congress, corporate jet owners, the Tea Party, the tsunami in Japan, congressional Republicans, the Arab Spring, millionaires unwilling to pay their “fair share,” Standard & Poor’s, broken politics, the European debt situation, Washington, D.C., bad luck, and George W. Bush.

Are setbacks unique to your presidency? Or are these problems simply more extraordinary than those overcome by other presidents?

Why haven’t you been able to overcome the negative impact of corporate jet owners despite having massive Democratic majorities in both houses of Congress for most of your presidency?

Do you maintain that the proper role for the president is to assign blame rather than produce results?
