Survey: Economists Prefer Spending Cuts Over Obama’s ‘Balanced’ Approach to Debt Reduction
Well how about that?

The majority of economists surveyed by the National Association for Business Economics believe that the federal deficit should be reduced only or primarily through spending cuts.

The survey out Monday found that 56 percent of the NABE members surveyed felt that way, while 37 percent said they favor equal parts spending cuts and tax increases. The remaining 7 percent believe it should be done only or mostly through tax increases.

That 7 percent must be former Enron adviser Paul Krugman and his knitting circle.

As for how to reduce the deficit, nearly 40 percent said the best way would be to contain Medicare and Medicaid costs. Nearly a quarter recommended overhauling the tax system and simplifying tax rates and exemptions. About 15 percent said the government should enact tough spending caps and cut discretionary spending.

Hm. That sounds an awful lot like Cut, Cap and Balance, the sensible plan that Harry Reid wouldn’t even bring up for a vote in the Senate.

According to the survey of 250 economists who are members of NABE, nearly 49 percent of those responding said the country’s fiscal policy should be more restrictive, while nearly 37 percent said they believe the government should do more to stimulate the economy. The remainder said fiscal policy should remain the same.

At the same time, more than 70 percent of the people that responded said they expect U.S. fiscal policy to be more restrictive over the next two years.

As long as Obama remains in the presidency, a more restrictive spending policy is highly unlikely. This is the president whose administration just launched a free school lunch program in Detroit that even pays for the lunches of rich kids, in the name of protecting other kids’ feelings. An administration that thinks along such lines isn’t likely to get restrictive on other spending. Unless it involves cutting DoD, of course.

Sign Of The Times: George W. Bush “Miss Me Yet?” T-Shirts Replace Pro-Obama Gear In Martha’s Vineyard Shops…

The ultra-elitist libs that dominate MV must be horrified.

Via Cape Cod Times:

There seems to be a bit of a sea change regarding President Obama’s popularity, as judged by the offerings of businesses along Circuit Avenue in Oak Bluffs. In past years, shops displayed mainly supportive stuff, such as T-shirts extolling Obama’s virtues. This year, a smirking George W. Bush T-shirt is getting laughs from window shoppers: “Miss Me Yet? How’s that hopey-changey thing working out for ya?” Also, Sharky’s Cantina, a Mexican joint on Circuit Avenue, has discontinued its Barack-O-Taco and Barack-O-Guaco guacamole “due to the tough economy,” according to a sign outside the restaurant. The Obamarita is still on the drinks menu, but it has been joined by a Perry Berry Tea-ni, a martini named for the Texas governor and Republican presidential nominee. Sharky’s is conducting a (drinking) straw poll to gauge the popularity of the two contenders.

Obama Bitches And Moans About Congress Holding Up Three Of His Trade Deals That Would Create Jobs . . . One Problem, He Hasn’t Submitted Them To Congress…

He reeks of incompetence.

(ABC News) — President Obama has touted three pending U.S. trade deals as measures that could immediately spur job growth, if only Congress would approve them to become law. The only problem: the White House has not yet formally sent the deals to Congress for a vote.

“With 1.3 million jobs lost under the ‘stimulus’ binge and the unemployment rate over 9 percent, there’s no excuse for the White House to delay a moment longer,” said Don Seymour, communications director for House Speaker John Boehner, in a blog post Friday. “If President Obama wants Congress to ‘go ahead and get those trade deals done,’ he should submit them for ratification as soon as possible.”

Officials announced in June that, after months of negotiation between the administration and congressional Republicans, had agreed to the overall terms of the trade deals and an accompanying piece of legislation, known as the Trade Adjustment Assistance program — essentially clearing the way for the legislation to become law.

“As a result of extensive negotiations, we now have an agreement on the underlying terms for a meaningful renewal of a strengthened TAA,” White House press secretary Jay Carney said on Jun. 29. “Now it is time to move forward with the TAA and with the Korea, Colombia and Panama trade agreements, which will support tens of thousands of jobs.”

HO! HAS NO CLUE!

Is Obama's "specific" plan now just an outline?

Last Monday, President Obama made news by promising to give a speech in September detailing, "a very specific plan to boost the economy, to create jobs and to control our deficit."

But has that "very specific plan" already been downgraded to an outline?

That is, at least, the impression I got watching Obama advisors Robert Gibbs and David Axelrod on yesterday's Sunday morning shows.

"The president is going to outline a short-term plan to accelerate the economy," Axelrod said on ABC's This Week, "in the face of the hits we've taken, because of the Arab Spring and oil prices, because of the Japanese earthquake, because of Europe that have slowed down economic growth.

On Meet the Press, Gibbs used similar language, "The president is going to outline some ideas, the president has outlined ideas every day he's been in the White House."

Yes, Obama has outlined ideas while in the White House, but what he has not done is produce "a very specific plan to boost the economy, to create jobs and to control our deficit."

Will September's speech be any different than the past? If Axelrod and Gibbs are going to be believed, apparently not.

It's interesting that UD, Zumi, RDS and Daily, just like Maxine Waters and Ed Shultz, resort to calling people racist.

Why just a week or more ago, Zumi and Daily proved beyond a shadow of a doubt, that I'm a racist.............:)

Just added to say: The only one calling you a racist is you yourself. Best work on your own lawn before walking on other people's.
