When I started driving at 16, gas was 18.9 to 22.9 cents a gallon. My little car only had a ten gallon tank so I had to make deals to get free towels or glasses with fill ups. minimum purchase was ten gallons. They usually let me fill up twice to get a free glass. LOL

Hell, when I bought my first car, age 17, gas was $.15 a gallon. When I bought my next car, age 19, gas was $.25 a gallon. To fill the tank took $5.00 and I had to fill the tank every day as the car only got 4 miles to the gallon.
