Where are you?

My elementary school principal had a paddle hanging on the back of his door.

I don't know if he ever used it, but for the bad actors, it was enough to have to sit facing it while he lectured them.

They're used fairly infrequently on kids in school, these days. They're pretty common, though, among consenting adults who like a little (or a lot of) fierce sensation with their sex. I have five or six paddles of all varieties, and five canes, and several permutations of straps, and a few miscellaneous other odds and ends devoted to percussive play (as we call it). It's fun stuff.

Hitting of any kind is banned in school and the home.

When it was allowed, mother kept 2 straps hanging up at home.

When I was in grade school the principle had a paddle that he was allowed to use on us if we committed a crime atrocious enough. He had to have parent's permission first. It was 24" long, solid wood, and about 6-8" wide, with a short handle and fairly flat. It was wrapped with duct tape and had some holes in it as well to make it sting more.
