It would seem people are fast to say no one has time for editing a story. I have to admit not many people are willing to look into someone's specialty. If you want someone to edit a story then I think you should ask him or her first, then forward your story. Keep in mind if you do not ask you cannot receive. Grin.

Good point about not asking and then not receiving. That's a problem a lot of newbie writers have--they haven't learned that they must have the courage to fail. If you're courageous enough to realize that failure isn't the end-of-it-all then you will more than likely have what it takes to be a successful writer. And it takes that extra something. Anybody can be a writer (witness the likes of Joan Collins, Harold Robbins, etc.) but being a successful writer takes a lot of sand, and the willingness to take more than your fair share of knocks.

Thanks for your time

Thank you for taking the time to read and reply to my posting. Till we talk again. Dream Master

I'm a newbie writer and I'm close to completing my first story. When I wasn't able to find an editor by emailing them and asking if they would edit my story, I decided to let them come to me. It worked. When I initially received the story from the editor it was full of red marks and comments. :)eek: Was it really that bad?) I was a little  at first, but when I got over my initial reaction I realized that he was right--I was being lazy. So to all you newbie writers: Before you submit your story to an editor, be sure you can take the criticism. If your editor is a good one, their goal is to help you create the best story that you can and not to discourage you from writing. The criticism might hurt your ego a little in the beginning, but don't give up. The whole experience only made me work harder.

<nods> Atta girl, Spell_Dame. You're absolutely right.

Laurel, maybe you want to send a blanket letter to all your Volunteers asking them to reply to YOU if they're still active as editors. It seems like far too many people are trying to go through the proper channels and coming up with nada. You know, something like, "I'd like to know if you're still interested in volunteering in the Literotica Editor program. If I don't hear from you in (insert time period here), I'll assume you've decided to withdraw from the program. Thank you..." etc. Just a suggestion. :)

At the beginning of this section, there is a list of volunteer editors for the current month, where we are asked to sign if we are still available.

You dug up another 13-year-old thread just to repeat advice frequently given here already (and on a feature 12 years younger than the original thread)?

Do you post just to hear your head rattle?

Maybe you should stop bumping all the old threads from 2000 and focus on current ones instead.
