Not specifics, but categories, themse or whatever?

I like non-fiction about all sorts of things but esp. history, mythology and so forth.

Fantasy- especially. And also pagan, magic stuff.

Magazines. all sorts.

contemporary fiction

Young Adult novels (esp. historical or fantasy- there are many very good ones)

I rarely read horror, sci-fi, westerns.

But I do like Stephen King.

Primarily mysteries, but a friend has sent me some philosophy that I'm really enjoying.

I read modern mainstream literature (think Top Ten list) to historical romance to classics -Emerson being a favorite. Emily Dickinson was a surprise and quickly became a favorite. I have been known to read a western or two, and I've even picked up a sci-fi book once or twice. If it's entertaining and well-written, I'll read it. I also like philosophy and self-help, anything that offers a fresh viewpoint on this existence of ours.

I do not do horror. Bleh. Scares the bejeebees out of and then I won't sleep for days.

Edited to add magazine subscriptions:

History, Historical Fiction and Science Fiction. Working on a book by James Rollins right now. He mixes Historical Fiction and Sci-Fi with a good effect.

I read a lot of King, though I'm partial to his novellas (Hearts In Atlantis) over his series (like Dark Tower).

Right now, I'm getting into Grisham for the 2nd/3rd time, after a break for a similiar writer, Lescroart.

Personally, I've begun a short-story series, which I describe as the male answer to The Babysitters' Club.
