Palin, that is.

http://www.politico.com/story/2015/01/sarah-palin-seriously-interested-in-2016-bid-114548.html?ml=po

“Without putting any words in my mouth, you can absolutely say that I’m seriously interested.”

“It’s not a major story because 2016 really is still far off.”

“I think it’s a major story because maybe you guys are bored.”

“It’s a significant step, of course, for anyone to publicly announce that they’re interested. … Who wouldn’t be interested? Who wouldn’t be interested when they have been blessed with an opportunity to speak about [issues important the country.] Who would just ignore an opportunity?”

“I don’t know what all the politically correct terminology is when you talk about being interested in having an opportunity to serve your country. So I don’t know if that’s the right terminology or not.”

“As I said yesterday, I’m really interested in the opportunity.”

Translation: "I know that 'I'm too dumb to have a real chance to be even vice president, and that the party will lose the elections by selection of me, but if the party officials are THAT dumb or think they will lose anyway so I'm a good choice to mobilize more of the fringe, and I can get the same attention like in the 2008 campaign, I would love to take that offer."

If anyone should pay heed to the phrase below, it's Sarah Palin.

'It's better that people think you're an idiot, than to open your mouth and confirm it to the world.'

I tried to watch it, could not get through 10 minutes of it. It's pretty clear to me that she needs a speech writer. My guess is, her ego didn't allow her to ask someone for help. That, or the republican party has abandoned her and no decent speech writer will be associated with her.

Is Sarah Palin reflecting the stream of consciousness of her audience, that is a collection of Tea Party true believers ?

Palin has to keep pretending she might run for something again someday, or people will stop paying attention to her.

But if she runs and loses, she would likewise become irrelevant. She's already had an amazing post-defeat career. It's not like Geraldine Ferraro and Lloyd Bentsen were all over the media after they lost their veep races.

As long as there exists a credulous segment of the political media willing to pretend she's serious about running, she has no incentive to stop playing the game.

That is it basically, she has to do something....anything..to keep "brand Palin" in the pubic eye, long after she should have been tossed into the remainder bin.

Interestingly, her most recent word salad is being blamed on a teleprompter failure. She can't admit to that , though, after all the criticism she gave President Obama about teleprompters.

"Remember at the GOP acceptance speech back in '08, the teleprompter broke there, too, it didn't work and so I kept on going. So, no, I don't know, I received a standing ovation throughout, and at the end of the speech. So I don't know, I think a lot of this herd mentality of some reporters would -- that kind of exacerbates some of the criticism. But I don't know that it really would, when you talk about the meat, the content of the speech, would criticize when I talk about courage and integrity and a track record of any candidate that is needed in order to be able to sincerely serve the people of America who deserve real hope, and real change and not more of the same. Not more of the status quo, this old energy, if you will. But we need new energy, new ideas, and as I say, very, very important that we have a track record proving what works.

But what I also made a point of in that speech, Sean, and this is important is, knowing what the media is going to do throughout 2016, and my prediction, Hillary will be running, and she will be the knighted candidate on the left, and with the media, knowing what the media is going to do, it's going to take more than a village to beat Hillary. There needs to be unity, understanding that we have that -- conservatives have that strike against us right off the bat. Even there on FOX, kind of a quasi- or assumed conservative outlet. We have all day listened in to the tease of Bill O'Reilly, he's talking about the guests on his show tonight, or the commentary on his show tonight, and that would be, all these GOP contenders thinking about running for president, like Donald Trump, Sarah Palin, and he names them off. And he said, 'Oh, what a reality show that would be, yuck yuck.' Well, the left doesn't do that. Okay. They take this serious because this is war and hopefully the media, even the quasi right side of the media, won't be looking at this as some kind of reality show, a joke because maybe they have theirs so they're taking care of it fine. No. The people of America deserve the best, and competition through a GOP primary, whether a Bill O'Reilly or somebody else who assumes it's a reality show or not, they deserve that competition to surface, the competitor, who can take on Hillary or whomever it may be and win for this country."

“It’s a benefit of Bush to be able to be so fluent, because we have a large and wonderful Hispanic population building America, and that’s a great connection he has with them,” Palin said. “On the other hand, I think we can send a message and say, ‘You want to be in America, A, you’d better be here legally or you’re out of here. B, when you’re here, let’s speak American.”

Perhaps realizing that “American” is not a language, she later elaborated: “Let’s speak English, and that’s a kind of a unifying aspect of the nation is the language that is understood by all.”
Yes, let's speak English, Ms. Palin. You start.

"What the heck are you thinking candidates?" Palin asked. "What are you thinking when you go ahead and you're actually asking for more immigrants, even illegal immigrants, welcoming them in, even inducing and seducing them with gift baskets. Come on over the border and there's a gift basket with teddy bears and soccer balls. What are you thinking? It's just inviting more. Yeah. Candidates they can say anything they want to about immigration, amnesty."

It wasn't clear which candidates, in Palin's view, are seducing illegal immigrants with gift baskets of teddy bears and soccer balls. She later brought up the Gang of 8 immigration bill in an awkward attempt to criticize Ted Cruz. "Who offered the amendments for that to further collapse U.S. jobs and income and security?" Palin asked. She never answered the question, so voters were left wondering who she was talking about.

Palin went on to attack another unnamed candidate for supporting free trade. "What candidate helped pass Obama's trade deal? TPP. And actually removed the hurdles for fast tracking. That's TPA. And actually purposely opened the door for China and Russia to come on in and join TPP with zero congressional consult. Who opposed the crackdown on currency cheating? Who kind of freaks out now about putting any tariffs on Chinese trinkets and goods? You have to ask yourself who is this?"

Who is this? Voters were again left wondering, assuming they were still paying any attention at that point.

The trick to being a politician is to talk lots and say nothing.

"Suck it up, cupcake! No, see the pundits they are still so very confused. I guess they did not realize we meant what we said. When we said enough the status quo has got to go, the permanent political class has failed us.”

“Trump came roaring in through this primary, and he blew the lid off the corrupted and corroded machine. He was like a golden wrecking ball,” she added. “He wrecked what needed to be wrecked in order to shine light on the shenanigans, in order to allow us to rebuild because, see, Trump builds things. He builds big things. And with optimism. And with common sense. He solves problems!”

Taking a shot at President Obama’s visit to Japan, Palin continued, “I want a president who inherently knows it weakens us showing up, Memorial Day weekend even! No! Instead of showing up somewhere to promise, hey when you mess with the innocent, you pick a fight with America, you steal our security, you spit on our freedoms, we’ll put a boot in your ass. It’s the American way!”
Yeah Sarah, if America has to get wrecked, it needs to get wrecked by Americans, not foreigners.

"On Memorial Day we come together as Americans to let these families and veterans know that they are not alone. We give thanks for those who sacrificed everything so that we could be free. And we commit ourselves to upholding the ideals for which so many patriots have fought and died." Barack Obama

BO is much more eloquent.

O' God!! I've got to stop reading the phrodeau posts re Palin. I can hear her nasally-nails-on-a-blackboard voice in my head as I scan the posts, and I've succumbed to a headache. I should have heeded the warning in the thread name and just walked by. But no! Curious me, I just had to peek in the door. LOL Aye aye I'm outta here!
