What do you think of people that use profanity? Specifically someone that your interesting in.

Does your opinion change based on the gender?

if someone I am interested in DOESN'T use profanity, then they're more prude than a certain woman around here... not mentioning any names or anything.

thus not interested.

It's certainly not a must, but I want someone who's willing to tell me to fuck off, rather than to go stuff myself.

Oddly, I seldom use it in the normal course of speech.

Not that you'd know that from my stories :)

I'm one of the fucking dirtiest foul mouth motherfucker's on the fucking planet, so using fucking profanity doesn't fucking bother me fucking at all, DAMN IT!!!!!!

i hardly ever use profanity when i type f**k i will type it like that im a baby about it dont ask me why :)

i think its because i feel foolish or silly when i say those words they arent natural to me so i dont say them

lisa does shes not foul mouthed but she does swear a fair bit :) it doesnt bother me though at all i dont have a moral issue about swearing (except round kids) i just feel silly swearing myself

Hell, I learned most of the swear words I know from kids! :)

OH YEAH!!!!! You HAVE to swear during sex play. Isn't that a rule? If not, it should be.

I hardly ever swear (my friends would probably say different :)) but when I do swear it's usually due to stress, shock or I'm just really pissed off. I probably swear mostly with my friends but that is all in good fun.

Fucking wussies. It isn't a good sentence if it doesn't have at least one swear word in it.

You can say that again!

Depends on the context - if used in anger or excitiation (such as after hitting your thumb with a hammer), then no big deal unless excessive. I do not consider words used between two lovers during lovemaking to necessarily be profane if it makes the act more exciting for both lovers.

Occasional, preferably rare, use such as "that is just bullshit!" is okay too. Too much use (such as more often than rarely) indicates to me a lack of imagination or vocabulary.

I believe that adults should refrain from profane speech when within hearing range of children, and should teach their children not to use profanity, so if an adult does this, it is a huge turn off to me.

When my daughter uses profanity (which is rarely) I usually let her get a way with it, but then she is 27. Sometimes I call her on it. BTW, she didn't learn it from me.

Does your opinion change based on the gender?

Yes - I expect better behavior from women.

No offense to you Brat, but I LOVE that word. Pussy is tame compared to cunt.

Just last week, I caught myself saying, "Heck." Something MUST be SERIOUSLY wrong with me.

It doesn't bother me any to hear it, but I spend most of my time in a business setting where it generally isn't appropriate in normal conversation.

Oddly enough, a relative mentions to me every once in awhile that I swear a lot more often than I used to. I think the political threads at Lit have influenced me. :D

I can't stand it when I hear a woman using profane language and I don't like it much coming from men. Having said that, I am very conscious of using it far too often myself.
Usin profanity just demonstrates a lack of vocabulary.

Voted it only bothers me if excessive but..

I think it is where and when it is used as much as anything.

Around children, it is never appropriate and I don't like to hear it used at all.

In business office situations, it is usally not used and stands out when it is.

On a constrution site, it sound funny not to hear it.

I swear when I'm upset. Yesterday I got a little trigger happy with the weedwacker and zinnias started flying. I swore quite a bit then. But in my profession, you can't even say "screw" or "crap."

I expect better behavior from women because that is the way I was raised, and that is what I have experienced - for the most part. I could be all modern and deny it, but that is not the way I am so it would be dishonest to say anything else.

About every other word I say is fuck, unless of course I'm at work or around someone's kids..

I'm one foul mouthed little girl. :D

Swearing isn't a requirement, but I can't stand being around people who feel the need to tell me how to speak, and why I shouldn't cuss.

I'm an adult and I'll be foul if I wanna.

Using profanity does NOT signify any lack of vocabulary.

There are quite a few people on this board who don't curse at all in their posts. And some of these poster's posts resemble something a ten year old would compose.

I have a pretty vast vocabulary which I draw on when I want or need to - however when I'm kicked back, chillin' or relaxing there is no reason to limit my speech to something pleasant for others. I need to please nobody but myself and I like to swear.
