What do you think of this?

I got a letter recently from this place. They suggested that they were interested in publishing my dirty stories and I asked them for more information. A careful reading of this email combined with looking over the letter of authorization seems to say that I would be paid nothing for letting them print the completed stories, except for a subscription to the mag. and only $20 for subsequent stories. I don't know if that is US dollars or Canadian dollars. What do you think? I wouldn't lose anyting and it's kind of a neat idea to be published.

Hi!

We are a publishing company based in Montreal, Canada called Group MVP. I
am looking for new authors, I offer a subscription for already posted
stories, you keep your copyright. Then if you have additionnal material, I
need roughly stories of 1800-2200 words, hardcore (no children nor
animals). I give 20$/story. The stories go in digests distributed mainly
in the States, and some copies here in Canada.

So I am basically asking for permission to use them. I am attaching the
letter of authorization. Let me know if you're interested!

Thanks George

Carol

P.S. What is your given name on Literotica? BTW I like your email address,
that is funny!

Check out this thread. I think these are the same people?

https://forum.literotica.com/showthread.php?t=346813

It is the same group. "Carol" is even the name of the person who contacted me, unless that is some kind of a general name they use for thhis kind of contact.

I wouldn't mind if they printed a couple of my stories and I might even get some future benefit from it but I don't want them being able to print all of them. I don't like their bullshitting about being able to print anything they want because I know it isn't true. Canada does enforce copyright laws, just like the US does. I have had at least forty stories pirated in whole or in part by various sites. Some of them may have been compelled to desist; I hope all of them are put out of business.

I'm glad you started your thread, then.

Yes, it is the bullshitting that bothers me, too.

They know new writers want to be published; it's pretty pathetic when they misrepresent the facts just a bit in order to get stories for free.

edited to add - Or to pull in writers who feel they must join, because the site would take their stories anyway - why not get paid a bit, even only a subscription?

Always picking up on the grammar....good for you! (on the letter)

I think it's a company that makes money from it's authors. See, I think they ask to publish your story to get you to subscribe to them. And if they get all the authors to subscribe...they get more money. The author will tell an author and so on and so on.....
anyone else think this could be it? I do think they do it legally....it's a money maker.

They are evil and should be strung up by their testic - um toenails!

Ok, I have read the other thread and they are, without question, the same guys. I am going to do almost the same thing that sachiaiko, the writer who started the other thread, did, and that is not give them permission. I would have no problem letting them print one or two stories but they seem to be asking for the right to print all of them and I am not willing to do that.

Good for you, Box.

We'll have to spread the word so others aren't taken in by this group.
