What do you think of the use of the word "slut"?

I very much want to be a slut and relish a bit of sexual objectification in the right setting.

I don't put "slut" in the title or description, but I use it regularly in the story text. Not as a derogatory term, but as a positive epithet, describing a woman of great sexual hunger. I appreciate it's not how it's used in society, and the negative connotation might be hard to shake. But I try.
The reason I don't use it in titles or description is that the context is needed to explain the positive connotation.

I'm surprised by how polarizing 'slut' seems to be. I think it'd be interesting to check on the occurrence of 'cunt' in Lit stories which (as a pejorative) I find much more offensive.

I even asked my wife how she felt about the use of 'slut.' She was fine with it. It's a word. She doesn't feel the same way about 'cunt.'

Anyway, the responses here so far aren't going to do anything to change my use of the word.

This would have been my post. I think an enthusiastic sexual woman can and should if she likes, behave like a slut in private.

Cunt is a whole different word. I use it as the ultimate pejorative/slam on a despicable human who also happens to be female.

Where do you fall on women behaving like sluts in moderately populated public areas?

Are we distinguishing between our characters using the term and using it ourselves? It's not a word I recall using in real life, but I know my characters have used it.

I had one woman call another woman a slut, and she absolutely meant it as an insult. But I've also had two women use it playfully between themselves to tease each other. I don't think I've ever had a man use the word. I tend to write "nice guys". So far anyway. But if I ever do have a male character use "slut" in his dialouge, that character will probably be an antagonist, and I'd want the reader to dislike him.

I call myself a slut at times. To me, it means someone who enjoys sex, has lots of it, and isn't ashamed of it.

I realize that isn't the generally accepted definition in our society, but I know quite a sizable number of people of all genders who call themselves sluts, referring to their enjoyment of frequent sex and their sex positivity. I tend to encounter this most among polyamorous people, swingers, and kinky people. but I also know a few people who are completely monogamous and vanilla but still call themselves sluts because of how much they enjoy sex.

One of my Doms calls me *his* slut. To be honest, I find that hot as hell. My husband also calls me a slut sometimes, with a big smile and a tone of pride, because to him it means I've embraced my sexual side, and seeing as he's known me since I could barely say the word "sex" without cringing, that's a hugely good thing in his opinion.

As others have said, it's all context. Slut is a word that has developed extremely negative connotations because of how it's been used. However, language evolves, and words develop additional meanings or change meanings altogether. (For example, "gay" and "queer.") I think "slut" is undergoing an evolution, and personally I have no issue with it when it's used by someone to describe themself with pride and positivity, or when it's used by someone else to describe someone in a positive way, as with my Dom and my husband.

I generally (albeit rarely) use slut as a self-assigned title, usually in a moment of self-doubt or teasing by a female character. I don't like the term as it's "usually" gender-implied, and I don't like that. Same with c**t, but I've called more men a stupid f'n c**t than I have women (like 38:0, seriously).

I use the word "slut" somewhat ironically in my series "Hand Job Slut." It is about a shy, demure, virtually sexless college girl who needs money, and finds herself giving handjobs for cash. She advertises herself as a "handjob slut," even though her personality is as far from sluttiness as can be.

I've used it ironically in a title, because at some point the characters pretend to make their own porn. I think slut or whore can be hot in a role playing scene, when it's meant to make a woman feel sexy and not demeaned.
