Not too happy
Wish the fine tunning had been done before this was dropped on us. Has some nice improvements, but, at this point anyway I feel what improvements have been made are outweighed by the current negatives. I'm hoping this will change for the better very soon. Wish everyone well.

Promising. Lots of features to address the deficiencies of the previous version, some very nicely done.
Needs work. (I'm tempted to cook up an external style sheet to make the formatting and layout more attractive).
How did you miss the escaped double quote thing?
Don't roll back. But you weren't quite ready to deploy, based on what I see.

LoL you got my vote for sexy beast...but seriously...they needed to get the programming finished before rolling this out. On most sites, if this were to occur, there would be a huge backlash, but alas, seeing how it is a free site, we are at thier mercy...

I voted a welcome change- certainly it'll be nicer once everything's running, but even now some of the changes are rather good and an indication that yes, admins are paying attention to this site.

Yeah, I agree that the quot; thing is really annoying....
Dumb question, could somebody just go through and do a "find/replace" search on the site? Might take a while but I'm wondering if it can be done.... (Not a programmer myself....)

Hmmmm thats an interesting idea...though I have the feeling that the coding of such a program might be quite large...I've done a small amount of programming myself...and while I suppose it is possible...hmmm might be a lil tough...and not sure offhand, but I think you would need access to the files for the webpages themselves, not just the access that we currently recieve....

Well its quite simple...they've been promising it an promising it...and then they realized it was gonna be a year an had to put it out. Remember, Win 95 crashed on Gates the first time he demo'ed it

I'm a little disappointed with the rollout of half-assed CHYOO2: The Sequel.
I'm going to reserve judgement until I find out how long it's going to take to see this fully armed and operational interactive story site.... Then I might get cranky.

May12th, nothing new.

It's been almost a week since the new chyoo was brought out and we haven't saw any changes. Even the stories that have been waiting to be approved haven't been approved since April 22.
With the old chyoo we all had our ways to get around the non-functioning things. Like the quotes... we used stright quotes. The time out problem... we used word to cut and paste. The view previous threads, not actually viewing problem.... I learned the thread ID and story ID to fix the link in my browser. We got around things... so in time, if we must, we will do the same for this Chyoo.
Who else is worried that this is as good as it gets?

I am most upset that there is no comunication from anyone as to the plan. That has always been my major gripe, just tell us here is the list of things we need to fix and this is when we are going to get to them.
The frustration is the lack of any information, or even an acknowledgement that they see the problems and will fix them sometime.
I would just have left well enough alone is this is the best it is going to be.
I am assuming there are many changes to come and this is just a betta site. The lack of ads makes me think there is more to come.

Lost amongst the more noteworthy changes and gaffes is the demise of the less gender specific Pat Smith, now replaced by John Doe.
The new version was put up Fri. night I believe. Let's see if there is anything in store come the morn.

Hoping for better
I'm with Jake on this one, I was used to the old Chyoo, and while there are elements of Chyoo2 that are great, on the whole I say things were better with the old place.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we won't have to wait for improvements as we have for the current state of Chyoo. When I come here now, in the little free time I have lately, my motovation has disapeared. (sigh!) Not to worry, I'll stick with it, I owe too many people threads, and I like writing here. Anyway that's my two cents.

The Plan
That is the real problem, we don't have any idea what the plan is for the site. I cannot believe that no one posted any information on how this process was going to work, how long it was going to take, and how to get in touch with them if there were problems or questions.
If we had the answers to those questions things would be a lot less frustrating.

We've griped for so long that there were NO changes; now that there are changes... you continue to gripe!
Instead of griping let's band together and MAKE IT WORK! They have stated that this is a beta! Beta (TEST) means "we know it ain't perfect"! They know there's lot more work to be done on it! I sincerely doubt they are going to roll out an entirely new program on a daily basis. Especially if they're making lots of changes! Let's simply pray that the changes do come a little more frequently (less than a year) that they have in the past!
Let's list the things that are wrong and see if they get addressed this time.
Am I correct in "assuming" that this is where we should be sending our comments (as the header page suggests)?
If so:
-1- Obvious: "Smart Quotes" & Special characters... They need to be fixed, either by ourselves, or by a mass text replacement program.
-2- Header Links: Not all the links at the header are set up as valid links (most notably: "Discuss" & "Contact" & "Help")
-3- Modify Threads: Can't seem to find a way to modify "my" existing threads.
-4- "My Threads": The order of threads should be user definable: sort by story, sort by approval status, sort by modified date, etc...
Remember, evolution never happens without change. Accept it, embrace it, and help it move along!
I, personally, am happy to see that "something" is happening here. It only shows that someone out there is listening to our small community. Don't abandon it, strengthen it!

All I would like to see is some acknoledgment of the problems and a timeline for working on them, wether it is two weeks or six months.
The areas that you have identifed as needing work are dead on. Fixing the things you talk about would improve the site 100%. Hopefully someone who knows something will post and let us know what is being worked on, and what the timeline is, however long it may be.
