especially those with children do you have something that locks?

Gosh we have them all over the place and yesterday my daughter almost found them (think she was looking for xmas gifts because they were pretty hidden) so thinking I should maybe find something that locks that is big enough...I know maybe the crop won't fit in anything but all the other stuff.

What do you use and does it lock?

I use a suitcase, and put it with the rest of the suitcases we have here. It's the only one that's bright red. I had to do that after Mom found her 3 year old tying herself to my bed with the restraints.

We used a trunk that had a lock on it when the kids were under age since kids pillage parents bedrooms when they can. Now the toys are in the armoire, resting in the corner, and attached to the bed. :)

... in the top drawer of my dresser/bureau. The spreader bars, and ropes don't fit in there, of course. They're stashed under the bed. The spanking bench doesn't fit in either of those places. It serves as His bedside table when not being put to better use.

If you have A walmart around you -- in the Automotive section they have this Black trunk that is plastic and that is what i use for mine -- has a spot for a lock on it -- i use it as a bench at the end of my bed with extra blankets on it -- and try not to giggle when people sit on it and i know what is in there and they dont

I keep mine in a tupperware container wedged under my bed. I say wedged cause it's so hard to get out that even I can't get it out.

All of our toys and other "adult materials" are kept locked in a foot locker in the ccloset. This keeps out the kiddos as well as snooping adult relatives.

We are using a wooden cabinet....4 shelves, 4 drawers....at the moment, for most things, but as they don't all fit anymore some of the ropes and our canes, and a couple of the bigger items are stored around the room in handy to grab places. Eventually it will be good if during our renovations we can incorporate some design into our room to store everything in such a way it is quick to access, neat, and fitting in with the decor.

We used to keep them in boxes and drawers and stuff till we moved the last time. I'd hidden the shackles in a box of books, AT THE BOTTOM. Then I put it in our closet at the back and went into the kitchen to put things away there. About 20 minutes later my daughter and her best friend came into the kitchen, giggling. They'd put the shackles around their ankles and thought this was hilarious. This wouldn't have been such a big deal - except that the keys were back at the old house. The ones around the other little girls ankles have a safety release, but the ones around my daughters don't. I ended up picking the lock. But not before my brother came to find out why K was laughing a me.

On the other hand, at least your children won't be shocked out of their minds if they found any of your toys.

Heck, they might ask to borrow something.

LOL, my daughter bought me a vibrating remote controlled egg to bring home....can't imagine what she was thinking!! At the moment, given I have not been up to unpacking everything from the weekend away, our living room has various items scattered here and there where they were dropped when we came home, then packed F's bag for his flight out of here. Fortunately he is on his way back home, so each time I crawl upstairs, I try and take something with me.....I am sure he will put it to good use having items available and at hand once he arrives. :D

My mom came down and spent 19 days with us to help us move into our new house. The day before she came, we were frantically finding a place where we could not only store our goodies, but transport them as well. (Yeah, in retrospect we certainly could have just given them to our good friends for safekeeping until La Madre was out of sight.) We got a neat chest from Bed Bath and Beyond with a good sturdy industrial lock on it. Of course, Mom's two reactions:

1.) What's in there? (T came up with the brilliant explanation that it had my Christmas present in there, hence the locks because I am NOT to be trusted, and I played along quite well.)

and

2.) Oh, that will look so nice as a bedside table! (Snigger, snigger.)

Overstock.com has a beautiful black or brown leather storage chest, which I'd buy in a heartbeat to replace this one except that there isn't a locking option. Still, it's very attractive and would blend in with most decor.

I use a cedar chest. It's at the foot of the bed, and I've never had a problem with it. My wedding dress and veil are on top of everything else, so I assume the kids just aren't that nosy, or that that is enough of a deterrent.

I do the suitcase thing too...everything fits, it's easy to lock, and no one thinks to ask whats in there or want to unlock it. If someone picks it up and asks why its so heavy, I just say that I stored some books in there?

I don't have children but I do have friends that are not involved in the lifestyle, plus I hang most of my items (floggers, multi-tails, quirts and my whip) so they remain straight. I found a used gun cabinet and I refitted it with hooks and pegs. It does an excellent job. It is not one with glass doors so everything in it remains out of sight and locked. So far no one has asked to look inside.

Thanks everyone, I thinking I am either going to get the one from walmart that locks or a suitcase like M wisdom. I definetly need locking.

LOL Graceanne that is funny about your daughter and her friend.

Now it is, at the time it was freaky. And embarrassing.

Family, friends, toy hiding subs...

TOY HIDING SUBS? How horrible! That's rotten! How un-subby! Why didn't I think of that?

You can find one like mine in any hardware store, and they aren't very expensive either. Just make sure you don't have a locksmith in your family, it's not exactly secure if someone really wants to get into it.

Good luck with the shopping.

It's natural for a good girl like too never think about it.

I'm thinking we need a deadbolt for the whole bedroom. Last night we were designing it and he has the room covered in mirrors, plus one on the ceiling. The spanking bench he already built and a St. Andrews cross he plans to build. Not to mention all the other toys and gadgets he has and will keep getting. Yup! A lock on the door is the only way to go I'm thinking.
