For me, it is meeting interesting people and the validation provided by the fierce loyalty of customers.

Appreciation of one's efforts expressed in dollars, benefits, and freedom of action.

Lunch. No, seriously: that I write every bit of copy for advertising material, brochures, our website, right down to cleaning up official email correspondence, proposals and contracts. It's always engaging, and sometimes downright fun.

My co workers. I work part time as a sort of tech assistant to a small event organising group. I'm the only person who knows anything about computers so they treat me like a god, since without me they would never get any work done.

All I do is show up for a few hours every few days and run an anti-virus and occasionally clean and fix some hardware issues.

Good customers who keep bringing me money.

Everybody makin' money :D

As far as the work itself? The worm ranch is my favorite part of my operation....it's a great gig for a biologist, seeing as we can't all be jacques cousteau and shit.

I love the challenge and the drive to succeed. My job is morphing into something completely different than it was supposed to be but that's nothing unusual. I love my employees, they are amazing at what they do. I love that my job brought me to Chicago and will soon bring me to Cali. I love the company I work for and helping my employees and peers to thrive through the programs I'm putting in place.

I love that I make a difference.

I get to help musicians fulfill their vision. I guide, and prod and add and assist. I do some playing along the was as well.

Hopefully after the fire season, this one has been pretty bad.

Your employees?

That means you own the company now right?

Congrats

Something New & Different

I like a challenge. New technologies. New Languages. New methods

I'm in I.T. I develop business applications. I really enjoy when something new comes my way. I absolutely go organismic when I do some pure 'computer science.'

I like being able to write for a living. Even if it's mostly stuff I'm not proud of, it's an opportunity to keep improving and learning in that direction.

I am also fond of our office coffee machine.

What he said. It's rather amazing that I had time to work considering now that I'm not, my days are completely full. Go figure.

Comshaw

Plus, did you discover, like me, how expensive working was? Commuting, parking, lunch, dry cleaning, etc. Today I get by on a fraction of the income I once needed.
