Things I love about Milwaukee:

the BrewCity Bruisers
the LGBT film festival
Riverwest
diversity
Noodles
the abundance of alternative medicine and therapies
neighborhood festivals
Walter's
my favorite grocery has a sushi bar (even tho I don't eat sushi, it's a cool thing)
sidewalks
live music
that it's okay to be a liberal
bumper stickers and yard signs galore
political activism

So, what's great about where you live?

The green space.
The lakefront.
Many very cool neighbourhoods.
The Toronto Film Festival.
The Ontario Science Centre.
The Royal Ontario Museum.
The Theatre District.
The University of Toronto.
The weather, which is usually very nice, even in the winter.

Live Oaks
Live music
Canoeing
Natural Springs.
ghost tours
Old City Cemetery

The beauty of the place.
The spectacular greeness.
The smell, sight and sound of the sea.
The awesome views from the cliffs.
The majesty of the woods.
The peacefulness of the walks.
The feeling of a community.
The quiet and calmness.
Our home.
Being together.

The openness
The mountains
The small town feel where you can walk down the street and be sure to run into at least one person you know

Well - I currently "live" in Iraq on a military base. There is not much to love about this place.... except the HUNKY MARINES! And free food at the chow hall is nice...,. oh - and did I say the HUNKY MARINES?

The Greenbelts, parks and bicycle paths all over the city
The Farm
The fesivals that take place all year round
The change of seasons
The funky neighbourhood shops
Museums, galleries, libraries
The hills across the river .. especially in the Fall when the leaves change

The variety.

I have woods next door, large towns all around, cities within driving distance, and the beach is a day trip away.
It's cold in the winter with plenty of snow (most years, some have less), and hot in the summer so I can get the T-Tops off my Firebird and drive with the wind in my hair, but not my face.
The weather goes in every which direction, but it's never too much of anything.
Hurricanes miss us, tornados never touch down for long, we don't get too much snow, there aren't any large earthquakes, or mud slides, or flooding (not at my house anyway, we're on a hill).

It's the best of all worlds.

The sense of community that's missing in most places. Everyone feels some responsibility for the community's well-being.

Spectacular sunsets at Sauble Beach.

Unexpectedly sighting a black bear or an eagle - close up. :)

There's always a friend around to talk to, and they're within walking distance.

Always something to do
Beauty of the city
The serenity of Lake Michigan
The White Sox, Bulls, & Bears (fuck the Cubs)
Living just far enough away to appreciate it without having the headaches

The orthodox Jewish girls walking to temple in their long denim skirts.

Let's see...

Houston traffic
Houston pollution
hmmm... the best of all Houston Intercontinental Airport so I can fly away several times each month...

just got back this a.m. from Chesapeake and week of eating crab... and doing a little bit of work.

The rural nature of it.
The marked change of seasons.
Hiking the mountains.
The green ... everywhere lush green space.
The views.
The night skies (without light "pollution").
The university & its students.
The easy proximity to Pittsburgh and DC/Baltimore.

I can take a walk in the full moon in the middle of the night and not see one car, except the parked ones on my lane, and not one person.

My dog can walk without a leash.

I don't have to lock my car, or even my back door. I can sleep with my window open.

I can fish, canoe, hike. In the winter I can eagle-watch. In the springtime I can gather wild morel mushrooms. I can eat great fish and hushpuppies anytime.

The people are laid-back, hardworking country people. They're friendly and if I don't know them, they know my family.

The boys from the private religious college a few miles away, on top of the bluff, run track in skimpy running shorts along the country roads, tanned, barechested and sweating.

My family is close. Some of them too close... others, just close enough.

My best friend is nearby.

The slow-paced lifestyle, the dedication to preserving our wetlands, the fierce independence and skepticism of Midwesterners.

This is one of the last unspoiled places I know of.

The Lake
The woods
The peace and quiet
The cosy friendly atmosphere
The giant oak in the front yard

Now if I could just be there instead of stuck in a motel or on a drilling rig in the middle of nowhere...

The sea.
The mountains.
Historical monuments and ruins that are just a walk away.
Lots of museums.
There's always something going on.
Shopping therapy.
Him.

i love our home...grumpy bitch that she is.
under our roof:
love
acceptance
freedom

our back yard:
- the train noise...
fun
privacy
pool for nakkey swimmin wiff bow legged wimin. *grin*

the bestest thing is that this is ours and we've made it what it is. even the bad, cranky things that happen only sharpen our resolve to improve our environment...
i love our home...The Love Shack.

I don't like it here. I never have. I miss the sounds and feel and smells of Belfast. That is home and always will be.

JJ

Things I love about Austin:

The traffic is chaotic, but manageable if you stay patient.

It's okay to be liberal and feel free, yet conservative views are honored too.

The sweeping natural vistas of Barton Creek, Zilker Park, etc.

The excellent live music and other arts scenes.

The party climate on 6th Street and in other areas.

Being right in the middle of history, education, and politics (Texas State Capital, UT, and so on).

The great sports teams (Go Horns, Bats, etc!).

The technology scene and getting to watch it develop.

The fitness climate (we are the home of Lance Armstrong for a reason).

The general calmness and warm feeling I get whenever I walk or drive down the street.

Austin Rocks. Enough said.

Me.

Some other stuff is pretty cool too.

LOL concur.

Toronto is a great place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live here for much longer - lol.

In honesty - there is a diversity and acceptance in Toronto that I am not sure any city in the world can compare to, and THAT is what I love about it the most. :)
