Girls get flowers, jewelry, bears, chocalates and bath supply gift baskets (and guys complain that this is so hard:rolleyes:  )

So anyway- what do you get for a boyfriend/husband?

What are good gifts you've given (if you're a she)/gotten (if you're a he).

What do you plan to give this year- if it's safe to say.

(ps- no gift books for sexual favors please.)

Massage oil is a gift I give most valentines and is always well appreiciated. I often buy him a book he wants or a video etc.

My hubby loves cuddly bears so I can get away with the odd cuddly but i tend to only get little ones and only if they really strike me as cute.

chocolate goes down well too actually, thorntons vienese truffles actually.

I did cross-stitch him a card one year (took me bloody ages and it was only tiny) and he still has it :)

I think my hubby is fairly easy to please ;)

For me, please ignore it. Let us wish each other a nice one and kiss or something. Same with Fathers' Day and all the Hallmark days. Just leave me out of it.

On the other hand, Snoop has a radically different take on it.

I actually took a woman in an ambulance because her son had not sent her a card for her birthday. He lived right downstairs in the other apartment. He saw her several times a day. But she made an extravagant gesture because he hadn't mailed her something.

Hallmark deprived. So sad.

well, in my case, he got me something (don't know what) and I have a little bit of money for a change.

So I'd like to get him something nice. I just don't know what.

Sweet, as with any other gift, it's the thought that went in to it that matters.

I would much rather recieve something that was inexpensive, or even free, that shows that there was some thought involved, than an expensive gift that was obviously just a quick "I gotta get her something" afterthought.

Things I have gotten him in the past - good bottle of Scotch, special baseball memorabilia, DVD box set of a musician or band he really liked. Also cook him a special meal with a nice bottle of wine.

A dog collar? :|

With CantD on this, but adding I can't get anything I would not on any day of the year that struck me :)

I get a card with a sexy picture of her on it.

Whatever he wants.

Seriously. Ask him. That's the best way of finding out.

Heck, it's the best way of finding out what anyone wants for any holiday. I've known women who would throw tantrums if someone gave them chocolate or flowers for Valentine's because they hate them.

Nothing but nothing says I love you to a guy like

POWER TOOLS! :D

Honestly it doesn't matter what you get him, as long as he knows it's from you.

One of my favorite gifts my wife has gotten me, (excludeing the ones I won't admit to in public  ) was the watch she got me for our wedding. (We exchanged wedding gifts). I have worn it every day for the last 7 years. :)

Me too.

Maybe it's my age, but I've really come to resent compulsory gifts and gestures, at least when they go beyond the merely polite, and I feel awkward accepting them.

I've come to believe that when it's your birthday, you should be the one giving the presents. After all, it's the people you love that make your life worth living.

That's very hobbit like of you:)

You should especially give a present to your mom. She was the one doing all the work!

On a serious note- I really do want to get him something nice, not just because I have to but because for once- I can.

That's what he said:D Power tools with a big red bow.

But I don't have enough to get him a good power tool and I don't want to buy him crap. That defeats the purpose! (My max is probably $30.)

I haven't had a boyfriend on valentine's day in years. Last time I got him a card with a hamster on the front that had the same hair-do as my boyfriend and a bag of reeses peanut butter cups.

It's been so long. *sigh*
Not that I miss that day. I didn't get jack or shit from that asshole.

Case of beer and tickets to some local sporting event.

Best part, tell him the extra ticket is to take a buddy so that he doesn't feel obligated to bring you. Men love the opportunity to get out of the house and breath in the ole' testosterone fumes, guilt-free.

It may not sound overly romantic to you, but he'll adore it and you come off looking liking the trophy wife.

We usually treat each other to an evening at one of the better strip clubs and buy each other lap dances all night. It's simple and mutual.

Pretend you really, really like what I got for you. :D

I think I am a hard one to answer this because I am such a hopeless romantic. I like the sweet stuff.

that said, I like the following ideas;

1) a bottle of the good stuff, be it wine or something harder, or multiple bottles if he is a beer fan. Something unusual that he would not normally buy for himself.

2) DVD or CD that he has been wanting.

3) the sporting event tickets is a good idea.

4) gift certificate to a favorite steakhouse or other "manly place". I don't want to go there on a busy day like Valentines, but I'll enjoy it later in the week.

5) If your sex life leans toward toys, there are always some fun possibilities there, like the previously mentioned massage oil.

Consumer Electronics

To a guy, that's roses, chocolate, flowers, and teddy bears all in one gadget we have no use for.

Tools are VERY good.

Sincerely,

ElSol

Actually... hands down best V-day gift I've ever gotten is my dog.

Sincerely,

ElSol

Us guys get as miserable on V day as women do, and need to be made to feel wanted and attractive.

Remember, generally we're shit at showing our emotions, so in most cases partners will have to ignore our macho stoical shit and treat us like the babies we all want to be.
