I did not click on any of the websites on Google, since the last time I did this, one of the sites tried to give me a virus. I can't figure out if any of my stories have actually been stolen. If they have been stolen, it seems it's been by porn bots with tourettes syndrome.

my only concern is that my stories are being mangled and posted somewhere other than Lit. Likely, they're not the kind of stories anyone would rip off, what with the men in them being buggered with carrots and whatnot.

That's what others have said. When they searched their name they found that their stories were being copied and pasted on pay sites. I did that once just to see what was going on and found all the funny stuff. Now I think that's better than seeing my half-assed stories being stolen, not that they have mind you.

I saw a site once where a chick said that the stories were what she was "inspired" to write when she couldn't sleep late at night. Then about 6 users here reported that the stories were theirs.

That's sickening and pisses me off to know end. When I work six months on a story only to have to copied then pasted and someone else is getting rich, yeah, I'm pissed.

I've heard rather often that bits and pieces of the stories are just to get the member to sign up. I think that's all it is though. I don't think they have the full stories. I can definately see why they get yours Yui, they're damn good.

I have occasionally checked on this and I did so today. I found 811 hits for "Boxlicker101" A few of them were from here and some of them were my byline on stories that have been ripped off. Most of them were snippets of my stories but when I clicked on the site, it was American Friend Finder. I am an inactive member of that site but I don't think that has anything to do with most of what I found.

An interesting thing is that I found garbled versions of two stories, "I Cruise with Anna" and "I Vacation with Liz". I say interesting because these are the only two romance stories I have written and both had few readers but did well in the voting from those who did read them.

I didn't try to track all the hits but those I did track were about me, not some other Boxlicker101.

The best way to find out if one your stories is being used without your permission is to pick out a unique line from the text and Google it. This way you'll catch all those places that change the author's name. You can then email the site and ask them to remove it. If that doesn't work let Laurel know and see if she can help.

I've made a fairly exhaustive search for stolen stories and found at least 36 of them that had been stolen, at least in part. I PMed Laurel and she apparently cleared up some of them but not all.

One of the sites using part of a story was using it as advertising to sell dildos for men.

Unfortunately from what I've heard it's always easier to find the sites than it is to get them to remove the stories. I think what works best is to post the site names and URL's on as many author boards as you can find and see if others have work being ripped off by them. Sometimes just the sheer volume of complaints will convince a site that keeping up the stories in question isn't worth the trouble. Otherwise, unless you're willing to sue (which I think would be a nightmare) you're pretty much screwed.

I was pretty pissed off but, I must admit, I felt some pride too that these sites thought my stories were good enough to rip off and charge people to read. The dildo story was about a gay man using it on his ass, by the way, so I felt some pride about that too.
