What do you do?

Thanks pretty lady. I like the type of work that I do and because I like it, I get paid well and learn other stuff that has absolutely NOTHING to do with my job title.:D One wonders though: I stripped for a year and a half, I considered it another aspect of customer service. I wonder if anyone else would see it that way.

I would see it as a great service to me!

The new program I am about to study allows me to actually make and create cartoons and animations.

I work in the hotel biz. Learning front desk and housekeeping management. My official title for the nonce is Assistant Housekeeping Manager. *shrugs*

Before my mum passed in 2004 I worked as a CNA and was going to school for my LPN. I dropped out after she died. My nerves couldn't handle it.

I prefer customer service type jobs which means in my past I have worked as a:
cashier, stocker, housekeeper, sales associate, customer service rep for a major credit card company. You know the jobs everyone hates and few people are good at? I am good at them. I prefer them.

Ten bonus points for using the phrase "for the nonce".

your body would be plenty desirable as is, there is a market out there for every conceivable body type/shape/weight/height. i think you could be good at it. the way i approach it, it is very similar to nursing and other caregiver-type fields.

It makes no difference what you look like...if you have the right attitude, you can make money as a sex-worker.

Fixed that.

Absolutely. Every day on that project, I felt like I needed to wash my hands like Lady Macbeth. It was a scurrilous bunch, to be sure.

LOL. There's probably more pride in being a garbage man.

There certainly was in my case. I was earning money that I needed to attend college. As a broker, I often felt like I was stealing money from our clients. Which is why I never made it very big as a broker and why I left after a couple of years. My soul was showing some severe corrosion and I need to stem it.

Sign is so awesome with special needs children. My son responds quicker to me signing 'no' and 'come here, now' than if I said it. At awana's there's a little boy who's highly functioning autistic, and he signs quite often when he can't communicate.
I  AWANAS! :D

What would a job in medical public affairs entail?

Hospital and medical PAOs handle most of the public relations for the area they cover. It generally means handling media requests, writing press releases, making official statements, and conducting tours and the like. It's really more of the official face of the facility, someone who can translate between the medical jargon and normal speech so that the general public can understand what the facility wants to put out.

Ah, ok. Thank you!:)

What program are you using? This sounds like something I would like to try my hand at. I do animated gifs and am always looking for new programs to try out.

What made you stray away from the Astronomy?

Having to really study

Seriously, one of the reasons I chose that major was because it was a dream from childhood and because it had been opposed all my life. I was always good in the math and scientific field without much trying so it felt as a good choice.

Reality is that, I realized, I really did not know what I was getting into. And without a single minded obsession or a very strong will at least, you do not get to graduate. (The way college works in Italy is different than in the US. They never kick you out, as far as you keep paying your tuition and it is up to you to take the exams needed ... so if you are easily distracted as I am, you end up drifting away ...).

So after getting a taste for earning money and being independent, I just went for them while studying Japanese. Still, what I learned math and scientific thinking wise is being really helpful in my line of work. (also the ethical saleswoman skill and the fact that I love to talk to people helps too).

If I had to do it all over again? I'd chose a different major. I still love Astronomy but not to the point of making it my career (dreamed of being an Astronomer). Have no idea what I'd chose thou

Re: sex workers as nurses and service people.

I see it that way as well. To be good at it you need the same skills: being able to listen to your customer needs and care for them so you can help and give them what they want and need.

I've been joking with my colleagues that if we (all women) go out of business we can re-invent ourselves as hostesses as we are very good at listen to our client and reassure them as it is ... ;)

Do you do corsets? I've never been to a renfair but Master says they are great. Especially the costumes.

Yup, but I haven't done one to sell yet. Not what we think of as corsets anyway. I've done bodices of course, those are great sellers, but tight lacing corsets I've only done for myself so far. Well, and I've done one for a friend.

I'm not confident enough yet to do a custom fit corset for soem one else. There's just too much presure to have it perfect for me to tred that way yet. But I really enjoy bodices and corset tops. :) I have one I'm working on that is going to be amazing.

Thank you!:rose: I can only imagine how much studying it would take.
I heard today. :(

So, it is back to the wretched job hunting.
I'm sorry. *hugs*

Deffo. :) All of my big projects (and corsets are always considered big projects) are on hold at the moment tho. I'm working on children's pieces because they are quick to whip up. I need to make up at least an extra grand in order to make my trip in october. :(

*nods* I saw something about a price on your hair. What's that about?

I'm selling my hair on an online hair selling site. I heard on a talk show of a woman who sold less than what I have for $1350.

I'm hoping for a grand. So far the listing has been up for less than 2 days and I've recieved 3 emails. The highest bid so far is for $600 but he wants it cut up to the nape of my neck and I was only wanting to go shoulder lenght.

What do they do with it once they buy it?

Hard work.:rose:

Have you heard back from the company that wanted to buy your stuff yet?

Yep, no go, but I'm not entirely upset. They can be a great account, but they can also be total scumbags from what other indie designers have told me, and the conversation was giving me the willies.

aww..well I'm sorry it didn't work out.:rose: Maybe there is someone out there that would be a lot better.

What do they do with it once they buy it?

Make wigs, weaves, and hair extentions. It's mostly salon owners that buy the hair. I didn't realize there was such a market for it until I saw that talk show and really started looking inot it. I mean, I always knew that you could sell your hair, but I figured for $200 max and only because my hair is virgin hair and I always have so much of it when I cut it. Even $600 is more that what I ever thought I could get, until I saw that talk show anyway.

Wonder how much I could hold out for if the economy didn't go sour.

I think every one knows what I do. *giggles* but I'll help out.

I'm an assistant store manager for coporate McD's.

I also have my own company designing, constructing, and selling renisaince costumes along with a few gothic and fantasy pieces. I specialize in family costumes, and celtic wear.

Do you have an online store? I'm looking for a French 1600's dress.

To the topic at hand- I'm a court clerk/writer/Rainbow seller part time.
