What do you do when you come to Lit?

Well, I do get into trouble a lot with the administration. But I am not there for the administration. I teach kids. I love to use humor to do it.

I answer questions. And not just about history. I made a promise to either keep my mouth shut, or to be totally honest. I have been known to tell a kid I won't talk about something.

I have turned down jobs, better jobs, were all they want me to do is follow the syllabus to the letter. I tell them to go grab a bum of a street corner, he/she could do that job.

Quite often, I like to close the door. And just talk, 90 minutes of back and forth. About what is going on in the world, on their streets, in their homes. Sex, life, and fuzzy bunnies. I learn more than the kids do, I really do.

Toot my own horn, yes I am a great teacher. I grade too damn easily. If you fucking tried to do it, you at least get a passing grade. The only way to fail my classes is to sit there and do nothing. I won't kiss your ass for that. But try, do your best, and if your best is failing, I won't fail you.

Thank god I got my tenure.

Anyhow. Thanks for the curiosity. You have made me feel a bit embarrassed. But fuck it, right?

Lately I lurk a lot. I generally don't post to giant threads that have a life of their own, or flame threads. I suck at flirting, so I read mostly, and if I feel like opening my mouth to say, er type something, I do.

I check my privates first and respond to any mail that is there. Then I come straight to the GB and look for threads and posts by certain fols. Then I just cruise around around reading threads and posting to interesting things. I love to post flirty messages. Sometimes I go to the Personals board, but it's not as fun as the GB.

Those lovely subscription ones.

I have threads on the GB,BDSM,and Am Pic boards.

I go to the How To, just to see if I know how to,and then I hunt down certian posters that I like.

If I have any pm's I'll answer.

Then if I'm bored I'll go through the back pages to see if there were any good threads that were ignored.

Basically thats it.

i usually check my PM's first - and answer the ones i intend to -then i usually look at my thread on the am pics forum and respond to posts or post new pics - once in a while play on there but usually with one person in particular - also check out and post to the new threads on the am pic forum and also the threads of my am-pic friends

then i check out the general board but i don't think it's as interesting now as it was when i first joined lit - i seldom post here on the GB - even after being on lit for a year i'm still not interested in being one of the "in-crowd" here (regardless of what you GB'ers think, i think you are clique-ish - come on now, you know who you are - don't make me name names - LOL)

if i still have time, i check out the "how-to" forum - always trying to learn something new and always glad to share what i know

when i first came to lit it was for the stories but since i got involved on these boards, i seldom read the stories anymore unless they are written by someone i know or recommended by someone i know ~

What I do on Lit...


Depends really on my mood. Somedays I lurk, never saying a word. Somedays I post like a madwoman. I don't check my pm box as often as I should. Those that pm me find out that I may not respond right away. I don't follow any particular threads, if I don't know the poster, the title is what will draw me in. I will read certain posters, like Cat for instance. I just read her stuff because she is my friend, whether the topic interests me or not. Others I'll read cause I see certain people are reading and responding to. I have to go see whats up, thats just me being nosy. Sometimes I do a search on me just to make sure someone hasn't addressed me and I didn't see it or whatever. Thats about the jist of it I think.


Ohhh, teach, you are a kick-ass teacher! You and riff should start an association for kick-ass teachers! Spread your wisdom and insight to all the not so kick-ass teachers. Really, you could change the world. Kids would actually want to learn if all teachers were like you.

peachykeen you know that teaching is a calling... One of the big reasons we over look the pay and lack of professional respect.

I work in Charlotte, NC. With a Master of Science degree I could be pulling in some major bucks. I know, I looked into it. I'll never leave teaching.

Even on those really bad days where I'd love nothing more than to go postal on the world, I go back, eventually. I have been known to call in and say I ain't coming in tomorrow because your all a bunch of assholes. I think principals understand that.

If you feel the itch, you'll go back. It is really strong.

Speed read the GB threads, check my PM's then re read the threads that caught my attention. Then I usually check whose on the birthday list for the day.
Sometimes I lurk/post, between working and editing.

I open any PMs (on the rare ocassion that there are any), cruise the 1st 2 pages of the GB, the 1st page of the "How To" board and then start poking around in threads on the GB again.

I don't usually subscribe to threads so I just look for people's names or threads that I'm famaliar with. After a while you can get a feel of who's threads you are interested in and who's you aren't. I read a whole lot more than I post.
