What do you do in your home town?

I grew up in Key West, live about 4 hours away (thanks to the 30 MPH limit through the keys)

I always drive by the schools, streets I used to haunt. I go by the place my Dad worked, try to find the houses where my friends lived, they all seem to be gone. Amazing feeling still, just being there. There is nothing as peaceful to me as driving the last few miles into key West just as the sun sets

Then I hit Duval and drink till everyone looks familiar

Well as a kid we moved around a lot. I never went to the same school two years in a row til high school. But then I settled in Jersey City for 10 years, so that's what I think of as my hometown now. When I get back across the pond, I usually take a walk around the neighborhood, see what's new and what's gone, run into old neighbors and friends. I hit my favorite food spots (Second Street Bakery, Komegashi, Jersey Ave Bagels, Tania's, Hard Grove, Ibby's)) and spend some time down at the waterfront. Love downtown JC, I do. It's such a cool place, like a city and a small town all at the same time, and because it's Jersey it's groovy without being pretentious.
